The film notes "The facts about Winniza as we have presented them, are true to the best of our knowledge. The information was obtained through several intelligence agencies, and we should like to express our gratitude to the men and women who allowed us this brief glimpse behind the Iron Curtain....". .

"The AP and TIME picked this up verbatim in 1959. Was the town a real place? Yep, it's still there today, although the Ukrainians spell it Vinnytsia instead of Winniza. Was the spy school real? ...now I'm wondering...."
