Title: What Men Want: Condoms That Fit

Many men want more condom sizes, new research suggests.

When offered more than the usual range of options, many men seek a more customized fit, according to a study published in July in the journal Sexual Health. Only about 1 in 7 men go with the standard sizes offered in the United States.

However, one of the study co-authors is the CEO of the company that sold the condoms, and the study was based on the first 1,000 men who bought the company's condoms on the Internet, so it may be hard to draw conclusions about the preferences of the general population.

Range of sizes

Even so, a recent study found that the average penis size is about 5.56 inches (14.12 centimeters), but there is considerable variability — with the smallest penis in that study measuring 1.6 inches (4 cm) and the largest sizing up at 10.3 inches (26.2 cm). [7 Wild Facts About the Penis]

By contrast, most condoms sold in the United States average 7 inches (17.7 cm) long, are a few inches bigger than the average penis and come in just a few standardized sizes. The biggest standard condoms are 8.32 inches (21 cm) long.

Because condoms are considered medical devices, they must go through rigorous, standardized testing — typically involving a balloon test where they are filled with water or air until they burst. The organizations that conduct the testing only allow narrow size ranges.

However, several studies have reported that up to half of men find condoms to be too long, too short, too loose or too tight. Poorly fitting condoms can lead to discomfort, slippage and breakage during sex, all of which reduce condom effectiveness. Condoms have a failure rate of about 15 percent with typical use.

Diversity abounds

Between 2011 and 2012, TheyFit LLC, a condom company, launched an array of condoms in 95 different sizes, which vary in length and width, to men throughout the European Union.

"The smallest one looks a bit like a pinky finger, and the biggest one looks a bit like a forearm," said TheyFit's chief operating officer Joe Nelson.

Of the first 1,000 packets sold, 83 of the 95 sizes were purchased, including every length and width available. The average length purchased was about 5.2 inches (13.2 cm), Nelson said.

Only about 13 percent of the condoms bought fell within the ranges that are allowed by testing organizations. However, the men who bought the condoms explicitly sought customized sizes, so perhaps these men were more likely in the first place to find regular condoms problematic than the average man.

However, the team believes the research reflects the preferences of the general population, because they explicitly didn't market the condoms to any particular penis size, Nelson said.

"It's not just these guys who like to think they need a Magnum or an XL, it's also these smaller guys," Nelson told LiveScience.

The findings suggest that at least some men, when given the option, would prefer more sizes than are currently available in the United States.

This information falls way, way, beneath my current radar screen.

When Roosevelt met Stalin, the story goes:

FDR asked Stalin if he needed anything from the US as everyone knew how hard off the Russians were.

Stalin said they could use condoms as everyone knew how Russian men were.

FDR asked his staff to produce several thousand 12" condoms, stamp them "Texas Medium" and send then to the Russians.

since God killed Onan for the sin of purposeful contraception (seed on the ground) condoms are not something to play around with. not only is it excluding the possibility / primary purpose of sexual union, it degardes Gods gift to lust, a sin which outdside or within marriage will send one to hell for eternity. Our lady of Fatima & numerous saints pointed out that more people are in hell for sins of the flesh than for any other reason.

Yeah, the good old days when women died at the age of 29 from numerous childbirths. This was among the problems that Margaret Sanger wanted to address.

And, where would The Magdalene Asylum (laundries) have been without bad girls who developed young then went and got themselves raped by their choir boy neighbors and relatives?

Hey buddy! Always nice to see you posting here.

I will try to explain my position which is not 'mine' per se, but that of church doctrine. youre probably already familiar with it yet disagree with it.

But actually, it makes perfect sense as per natural law, Gods law.

I understand that in todays world in which we were raised, it is often viewed as kookey and foreign.

The old judeo-freemasonic "!RELIGION IS JUST A TOOL TO CONTROL THE MASSES!!" meme, eh.

No. they worship SATAN and thus rebel against Gods laws. Since God is our Creator, His rules are totally for our BENEFIT, not for our 'control.' God is not a tyrant God. that is why He gave us free will. God is not a control freak like eugenicist murderer Catholic-hater Margaret Sanger, the Bush's good friend.

And if one concedes that the likes of the bushes have an evil agenda, then why is their like-minded villain, Margaret sanger, (who wanted to exterminate the rats) a good broad?

Bush, Kissinger, Sanger and Ginsburg: All Eugenicists

You know, good ole Hank K, who'se murdered untold millions of people. He likes birth control and Sanger too. now why is that?

Formerly classified National Security Study Memorandum number 200 written and signed by Kissinger, immediately comes to mind: According to mathaba.net, the document

"became the official guide to foreign policy November 26, 1975, when a National Security Decision Memorandum (NSDM 314) was signed that endorsed the findings of the study. "acknowledged that the purpose of population control was to serve the U.S. strategic, economic, and military interest at the expense of the developing countries".

When one uses birth control, they are essentially playing God, saying that they know better than God Himself.

That is intrinsically disordered and is not correct.

Actually that's not true.
Onan was killed because he knowingly disobeyed God repeatedly, not for spilling his seed per se.
He was to impregnate his brothers wife but instead he enjoyed sex and pulled out. Disobeying God was the sin, not cumming on the ground.

There is also a popularly quoted phrase of "it is better to put your seed into the belly of a whore than on the ground", but this phrase appears NO WHERE in the Bible.

That is intrinsically disordered and is not correct.

The same could be said of someone whose life is saved by an emergency appendectomy.

In fact some children have perished because their parents relied upon The Great Scoutmaster (as we called him in The BSA) to either heal the children or allow them to perish.

Or, can the prevention of conception of "a Beethoven or a Tesla" be morally wanting as his or her inevitable starvation remains in God's hands?

Is it not true that God helps those who help themselves? Would it not logically follow that if unchecked population growth in a village would result in starvation or death from disease then the "natural course of events" should not by virtue of religious mandate be the preferred one?

The same govt that has allowed the US Dollar to be devalued to 1/100th of its 1900 value as people are pushed into confiscatory tax brackets with no growth in actual purchasing power does nothing to protect us from the criminal banking-war for profit elite. My advice to folks is, "Disregard The Almighty and make crucial economic decisions without constraints imposed by religions. They have their own agendas and reasons for clinging to their historical societal control methods."

In fact their short and long term survival depends on it, so they should be ignored if they dictate policies that adversely affect ours. Especially if your holy man, witch doctor or 501 (c)(3) corporate officer preaches that "Render unto Caesar" sermon every April.

Another factor is the B SIDE OF MODERN MEDICINE. We can no longer rely on human mortality rates (or a conscientiously applied program of moral hygiene and regular professional shame) to prevent overpopulation, which is arguably the greatest threat to our planet. And again a seemingly indifferent deity has offered no hint of relief to come, as America's elite plot ways to reduce the entire planet's survivors to absolute despotism.

Comparing some of the faithful with those who are simply cowardly, genetically inferior and/or uninspired reveals distinctions, with very little difference. Perhaps those who plan for Heaven first with less regard for their children's futures in this world should be sterilized, if parenthood brings with it any responsibility beyond the theoretical and spiritual.

In light of external variables it would seem that the highly complex question of family planning so that children (and their mothers) will survive beyond the point where religion loses interest shouldn't be left to the several Gods vying for control of us all.

The act of being recorded in ancient texts (by people who wandered the desert drinking bad water and eating hallucinogenic plants) or depicted in primitive cave paintings does not convey enough moral authority to override my God_given survival instincts..

"Privileged information is the ambrosia of elitists. It gives them a sense of power, and the human ego loves to feed from the trough of power."
