PressTV:
Former CIA spy agency contractor Edward Snowden has begun a new job at a major Russian website, three months after Moscow granted temporary asylum to him, his lawyer says.
Edward Snowden will start working at a big Russian company on Friday, November 1. His job will be to support and develop a major Russian website, Snowdens lawyer Anatoly Kucherena told Interfax news agency.
Kucherena said security reasons prevented him from divulging the name of the company.
This is while, Russia's biggest social network Vkontakte offered a job to the American whistleblower in August.
His lawyer has said that the whistleblower is running short of money. Kucherena has also added that he is now living in a secret location in fear of being tracked down by the US law enforcers.
The former National Intelligence Agency (NSA) contractor first leaked two American surveillance programs in June, making headlines throughout the world. The American leaker flew in to Moscow on June 23 from Hong Kong with a revoked US passport. There has been no reported sighting of him since he was granted asylum on August 1.
Washington protested Moscow for giving asylum to the 30-year-old former CIA contractor, who is wanted by the United States for charges of theft of government property and two offenses under the espionage statutes.
Snowden revealed to British and American media details of massive domestic and foreign spying programs, under which the NSA and the Federal bureau of Investigation (FBI) are eavesdropping on millions of Americans and European phone records and the Internet data from major US Internet companies including Facebook, Yahoo, Google, Apple and Microsoft.
Snowden also revealed information about NSA espionage activities targeting friendly countries across the world.
