The United Kingdom's Immigration Law is one of the most strict in the world. The United Kingdom (UK) covers England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland. The Republic of Ireland (I got in via a grandparent being an Irish citizen) is a different country than the above and has it's own Immigration law. That said I'm not sure how it would affect you, but I would certainly Google the UKs Immigration Law criteria.
I can prove I had ancestors in Scotland as far back as 1690.
If either of your parents were born there, I believe that makes you a citizen automatically. If you have to go the g'parent route, it takes patience and many certified copies of pertinent documents. I jumped thru countless hoops mostly because my grandmother trimmed her age by 10 years the moment she set foot on Ellis Island :)
