George Harrison's sister lives modestly in rural Missouri

Before George Harrison died in 2001, the rock icon and former member of the Beatles reportedly saw that his sister, Louise, was given a $2,000 per month pension ― a small sum given his more than $300 million fortune.

In an interview with the U.K.'s Daily Mail, Louise Harrison claims that pension ended after her brother died. Now 82, Harrison still works to support herself. However, she isn't upset about the arrangement.

She told the Daily Mail, "I was never concerned about the termination of the pension, I have found a way to make a living."

She currently manages a Beatles tribute band called the "Liverpool Legends," who frequently perform at the Andy Williams Moon River Theatre in Branson, Missouri.

"I don't have any blame for anyone and I was brought up as a Harrison and to be self-reliant," she told the Daily Mail.

Her brother, often referred to as the "quiet Beatle," lived in Friar Park, a 120-room mansion near London, with his wife and son. Louise told the Daily Mail she doesn't care about money and "doesn't mind not living in a castle because [she] would rather be broke than live rich and heartless."

And while she acknowledges that her finances can be problematic, she sees the positive in her situation.

"I am struggling for money, like everyone, but I am not on the breadline. I am not ‘skint’, as they would say in Britain. I feel very fortunate to own outright the land that my two homes sit on ― which is better than most,” she told the Daily Mail.

In 2001, Louise Harrison gave an interview with the "Better Show," where she spoke about her brother's legacy:

Ah yes, brotherly love, sometimes called the milk of human kindness.

Practically non existent, for most it is, "I got mine, you get yours".

Amazing what $$$ can do to some folks. I would think that the heirs would have continued her "pension" as it couldn't ever impact their wealth.

"The amount of our National Debt is the measure of our enslavement to Jewish World Finance. We live in a democracy, yet loans are contracted that always cost more than the amount of the loan, and no one has a word to say about it. We Americans do not know how much interest we pay every year, and we don't know to whom we pay it."

Great article. There are very few people like this lady around who come from celebrity background families. A friend of mine's father was an long standing actor and did many small movies and worked in radio with the famous Sky King tv series and even worked with the famous Liz Renay in the 1976 version of "Deadwood". Also worked with radio personality Casey Kasem whom I met in march of '97. But this old actor was very down to earth including his wife. They were hoping I and their son would have tied the knot but it did not work out due to illness. But they were the most down to earth people you'd ever meet. You would never know they were in show business at all. Something about the Midwest humbles people to the soul.

I've been to Branson several time and spent a lot of time in the Ozarks and never heard a word about her being there.

When I moved here to build our home, after a year I got bored with all that WORK!!! So I bought a lathe, vert. mill, D.C. Welder, various small equip.

Hadn't met a neighbor yet.

I guess some good ol' boys saw me hauling the stuff in. About a year later one of the large farm guys ran his John Deere down to my place and asked If I could drill a 2" hole on a part. I fixed him up and when he asked how much, I told him I don't charge Neighbors.

Man, All of my New Neighbors Adopted me!! They really never asked for anything much, but did help on a few Heavy Lifting jobs I couldn't do myself. Good Country Folks !! :-)
