PressTV: Three Canadian veterans from the Afghan war have committed suicide in less than one week, raising questions about the treatment of the country’s veterans.

The latest case was reported on Wednesday involving a regular officer of the Canadian Battalion regiment located north of the capital Ottawa.

The two other cases involved soldiers linked to the same Canadian Forces Base Shilo in the province of Manitoba.

The Canadian military has launched an investigation following the first two initial suicides, with commander of the Canadian Army, Marquis Haines, saying the aim of the probe is to see if the department could find measures to prevent future suicides.

However, defense critic Jack Harris from the New Democratic Party said he is skeptical and not confident the military is finding out the causes of the suicides.

“If the military is not conducting a proper investigation and getting reports prepared and finished into how this happened, why this happened, I don’t have confidence that we’re finding out what’s going on, and putting the measures in place to try and put a stop to it,” said Harris.

In addition, Harris said the three suicides show Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s government is failing the country’s wounded soldiers.

The three suicides come at a time when the Canadian government is under scrutiny over its treatment of injured soldiers.

A growing number of reports have shown injured soldiers being deliberately forced out of the Canadian military without any long-term assistance, sometimes only months before they are eligible for pension.

According to the latest figures by Canada’s National Defense, 22 soldiers took their own lives in 2011. The numbers from last year have not yet been released.

Some have questioned the data since the reported number only includes regular force members and not reservists. Furthermore, there are 70 military inquires into suicides since 2008 which are still incomplete.

Poster Comment:

Soldiers discovered they were not wanted in Afghanistan and served no other purpose than allowing Israeli thieves to continue stealing Palestinian lands; suffered physically and psychologically just to ensure vital Jew support for Conservatives at election time. Jewish name at the top of Conservative Party organizers.

“The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out... without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, intolerable.” ~ H. L. Mencken
