PRINCETON, N.J., Dec. 6 (UPI) -- While most people asked say immigration is good for the United States, a Gallup Poll indicates displeasure with President Bush's handling of the issue.

A November poll showed 26 percent of U.S. residents asked approved of the way Bush is handling immigration, while 65 percent disapproved, a Gallup Tuesday Briefing analysis said. The poll was conducted three weeks before Bush traveled to the U.S. Southwest to talk about immigration.

A Gallup poll released in June showed strong U.S. support for immigration, with 61 percent of respondents saying it was good for the county and 34 percent saying it wasn't. Forty-six percent said they would like to see immigration decreased and 49 percent said the presence of recent immigrants holds down wages for other U.S. workers.

The latest telephone survey conducted Nov. 11-13 polled 1,006 adults in the United States. The data have a margin of error of 3 percentage points. The other data was collected June 6-25 in telephone interviews with 2,264 people and had a margin of error of 5 percentage points.

They need to survey Americans in North Carolina(a/k/a Little Mexico). I bet 95% of N.Carolinians would disapprove of Bush's handling (if he did actually put a handle on it) of the border situation and 95% turning against immigration of any kind, legal or illegal. We are flooded by illegal immigrants here in NC and it seems you can't get a job in construction unless you are illegal. I hope Jim Gilchrist wins his seat! Jim has put this issue out there, loud and clear, and Americans are listening.

When I was in Georgia last spring.. the local paper said that Georgia was the state with the fastest growing illegal population in the country.. What's the draw in NC? In Georgia it's the chicken processing plants..

There are several problems with illegal immigration and I dont mean the issue itself.. one is that the American people have to be the dumbest people on the planet.. two.. is that the government is a total joke.. they absolute circumvent the will of the people.. I posted another article re how the senate is going to pass this fiasco by adding it to another bill..I believe its the more conservative (I mean in the traditional sense) immigration bill.
