There are plenty of places to shoot a gun in Texas, but none match the luxury, or the size, of a new shooting range and club opening today in Frisco, a wealthy suburb of Dallas. Other shooting ranges may have a blog, but how many use it to announce their new executive chef? Thats exactly what the Frisco Gun Club did in August, with the hiring of Scott Romano. Area residents wont just be dropping in for a quick bite, howeverdining is a privilege reserved for VIP Club members, who pay a $7,500 initiation fee plus $200 per month to maintain their status. The VIP Club also includes a bar and a cigar lounge.
The club reports that they have already sold 2,300 memberships, more than double their original goal of 1,000, though no breakdown is given on the levels. Individual memberships start at $225 per year, and dont include range fees. Owner Christian Putnam has said that the club is going for an experience like Neiman Marcus or Barneys, and consumers are lining up to be a part of it.
The facility claims to be the nations largest indoor shooting range as well, measured by the square footage of the range itself. They offer 40 shooting lanes, including four 100-yard rifle lanes. Add in the 7,000 square feet of retail space for firearms, ammo and accessories, the private club, and a training room that can handle 100 people, and you get a total of 43,000 square feet of brand new luxury for area gun enthusiasts.
