Resistance See other Resistance Articles Title: ‘Mutually respectful ties’: India retaliates against US diplomats A diplomatic squabble has developed between US and India over the arrest of an Indian dipomat. A US court has released the diplomat on a $250,000 bail. The next hearing has been set for January 13. On Friday, New Dehli called in the US ambassador to protest against such treatment. Khobragade is accused of falsifying a visa application for an Indian national who was employed by her from November 2012 to June 2013 allegedly for less than four dollars an hour, an offence which carries maximum sentences of 10 years in prison. On Tuesday, US State Department deputy spokeswoman Marie Harf said Washington was reviewing the incident to ensure that all appropriate procedures were followed and every opportunity for courtesy was extended. The United States and India enjoy a broad and deep friendship, and this isolated episode is not indicative of the close and mutually respectful ties we share, she said in a statement. A day earlier Harf noted that US authorities followed standard procedures during the arrest claiming that Khobragade did not have full diplomatic immunity as it only applies to duties performed as a consular official. The father of the diplomat, Uttam Khobragade, claimed that the Indian government supports Devyanmet after he met with the Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Tuesday. The home minister has said the government is answerable for her security and liberty. The whole government is supporting us and that she was on duty, and hasnt committed any crime. What happened was absolutely atrocious. She is liable for diplomatic immunity, Khobragade was quoted by http://dnaindia.com as saying. The government will try to get the charges against her dropped. He also assured us that no harm will be done to her, he added. Comments (35) est ockert so can the rest of the world get together and help the american people? the american people are for now still a massive power that can help the world change for the better (which is exactly why they are being emasculated). their country and the supposed model that it was for so many other countries (interested in the peoples livelihood) is obviously being rapidly deliberately destroyed for the sake of other interests. after them, the rest will follow. SoiCowboy Zina, while human trafficking is a problem, these are DIPLOMATS. They have IMMUNITY from prosecution in their host country.Diplomatic immunity has been universally recognized by all nations for thousands of years. USA thinks that the rules dont apply to them. If they were worried about slavery, then USA should have EXPELLED this lady instead of arresting her. NYPDcould have seized the "victim" before permitting the diplomat to leave WITHOUT ARRESTING HER. Zina Saidova This story is maybe hiding a human trade and slavery.. Diplomatic people from those countries often do this.. Instead of screaming against the police people should think lil bit An d what about all those poor mexicans working in your country??!!... est ockert so can the rest of the world get together and help the american people? the american people are for now still a massive power that can help the world change for the better (which is exactly why they are being emasculated). their country and the supposed model that it was for so many other countries (interested in the peoples livelihood) is obviously being rapidly deliberately destroyed for the sake of other interests. after them, the rest will follow. Poster Comment: NSA sets the tone for police operations and is a concoction of Israeli duals in the US administration working under the umbrella of the Israeli lobby which has in place well-organized and well funded csmpaign machinery to elect candidates for Congress whose members must now look after Israeli interests. These duals have created jobs for themselves, jobs which allow them to control American people the way their cousins in Israel are doing with Palestinians. Post Comment Private Reply Ignore Thread
