Great interview! Good background info on Phil Robertson having so much talent as a QB but walking away (instead of going forward) to a career in the NFL.

I have never watched Duck Dynasty but I have watched several other A&E programs.

NOT ANY MORE!

Now that I've read about how shamefully A&E have treated Phil Robertson regarding his opinions about homosexual marriages, I am boycotting A & E. I will not watch any A & E program EVER AGAIN unless A & E executives make an apology to Phil Robertson for the way they have behaved towards him, how they caved when a special interest group brought UNSEEMLY pressure to have Phil Robertson removed/suspended. Robertson did not say anything that promoted violence. Robertson did not state his personal opinions on the Duck Dynasty show.

This is America. Everyone is entitled to freedom of speech. For a special interest group to want this basic human right shut down because it does not suit their self serving agenda is reprehensible.

A&E at the very least should have done nothing. At best they should have supported their star for expressing an unrehearsed personal opinion. America is comprised of INDIVIDUALS with their own individual ways of looking at things, at life - we are not straight jacket cookie cutter people ( like communist China). Cable television itself has been successful because it offers diverse/different/intellectually challenging plot lines and ideas ( as opposed to boring mainstream pap of network programs). Instead A & E caved at the first whiff of pressure. Shame, shame!

Great post, scrapper. I think I have probably seen a couple of episodes of Duck Dynasty so I can't comment too much on it (I thought it was pretty entertaining but there are usually other things on that I want to watch more). Still, Phil Robertson should not have been axed over his statement(s) because A&E knew even before the show what they were getting--Christians who were not ashamed of what they believed and ready to share what they believed. And the comments he made that they suspended him for were not made on their show or on their time. And there is also the point that (some) of the folks engaged in that "alternate lifestyle" are quick to get in people's faces about it and none of them are ever censored or told to tone it down any. Double standards as far as the eye can see.
