We just got back from having Christmas dinner with an English woman who fixed us English food. Talk about bland. Never again. I also found out that Yorkshire pudding is not a pudding.

I've been eating Christmas Pudding from the local British Emporium: it's very rich, completely unexpected considering it was invented by the bloody British.

This woman must have made it wrong. It was like bland cornbread. I looked at it and thought, "This is pudding?"

You may have had the Hasty Pudding...

I Googled it and it was Hasty Pudding. I wonder why she told us it was Yorkshire Pudding? I must ask....but then again maybe not.

Pudding in TX is chocolate, vanilla, tapioca, banana; and that's about it.

My Uncle Willard in Chicago married an English woman, so I know what Yorkshire pudding is for sure. He was in the Army during WW II and met her there. He was supposed to be in the D-Day invasion, but was sick and could not go. He married her and brought her over here. They had four kids, two of whom are in Florida, and two still in Chicago.

Mathew Walker Christmas Pudding is the bomb:

MY INGREDIENTS

My original Christmas pudding is based on a traditional recipe that includes 13 core ingredients, which represent Jesus and his 12 apostles.

I travel the globe to select the very finest spirits, vine fruits and seasonal spices, from a stout that is brewed right here in The Peak District to succulent sultanas and currants from Turkey and Greece.

The result is a beautifully moist and fruity Christmas pudding that truly captures the traditional taste of the festive season.

Sultanas

Raisins

Demerara Sugar

Currants

Glacé Cherries

Stout

Breadcrumbs

Sherry

Vegetarian Suet

Almonds

Orange & Lemon Peel

Cognac

Mixed Spices
