Makes an olde man cry.

As a kid, being taught to kill, kill without remorse, was devastating. Then to awaken to the truth untold to us, that we too were expendable, without remorse, without care.

To find your life is worth nothing, shatters every shred of human belief.

Drinking becomes a life sustaining crutch. Just waiting for the nightmare to be over, one way or another.

I and two friends were discharged on same day, we had survived.

After we drove out the gate, we gave three fingers up salute to the guards. They smiled and waved, they understood.

As you know, I was never conscripted.

I do know that the grunts main goal was to stay alive, keep their buddies alive, and get back home in one piece.
