I'm from Missouri and the state has concealed carry. It's easy to get. Why are they open-carrying, then? I don't know if Missouri has open carry or not. The officers aren't screaming and shrieking and threatening to murder them on the spot. They're not acting as if they expect the people to pull their weapons and mow them down - and they could have. The cops would have never stood a chance. They're actually acting pretty professionally.

While open carry is generally legal in Missouri, their preemption statute is unique in that it preempts the entire field of firearms law except for the regulation of open carry. Consequently, carrying openly in Missouri will expose you to a checkerboard of local ordinances.

That's a mess.

Concealed carry is legal throughout the entire state.

To have local ordinances supersede state law seems insane to me.

Why have any state laws if localities can override them?
