This has naturally raised the question in many peoples minds as to whether body armor is legal or not. Can the average citizen own body armor, or is it something just reserved for police and military use? SImple Tactic To Defend Against An Attacker: Click Here mmg.ontraport.net/c/2/976...83/1/274/29179/1389355613 The simple answer to this question is yes. However, there are some restrictions. For some reason, the state of Connecticut doesnt allow their citizens to purchase or own body armor. So, if you live there, youre out of luck. Apparently your elected officials dont trust you with that. The other restrictions are if you are a convicted felon or arent a U.S. Citizen. Felons arent allowed to own body armor, although there is no criminal check done for purchasing it. However, if felons are caught owning body armor, they are liable for criminal punishment. People who arent U.S. Citizens, but living in the United States arent allowed to own it either. Once again, no check is made at the time of purchase. But if these people are found with body armor in their possession, it is assumed that they own it for criminal intent. Let me clarify something here. Although many people refer to body armor as bullet proof it really isnt. There is nothing that can be absolutely guaranteed to be bullet proof. These are bullet resistant, rather than bullet proof. That means that they will stop certain types of bullets, depending upon how the body armor is made. So, when you are looking at body armor, its important to understand what you are looking at. The first thing to understand is how the body armor is made. There are three possibilities to consider; Kevlar, laminated Kevlar and Ballistic plates. Kevlar is designed to stop bullets, but doesnt do much to stop blades and spikes. Laminated Kevlar and ballistic can stop both bullets and blades, up to the rating of the particular body armor. The rating system is based upon what types of bullets the body armor is designed to stop. When buying body armor, always ask about its level as this will tell you what it is good for. The ratings will stop the following types of rounds: Type I - .22 LR; .380 ACP Type IIa 9m; .40 S&W; .45 ACP Type II - 9m; .357 Magnum Type IIIa - .357 SIG; .44 Magnum Type III Rifles, such as 7.62 x 51mm NATO M80 ball Type IV Armor piercing rifle, such as .30-06 M2 Springfield All types of body armor will provide protection for all rounds listed for a lower type of armor as well.
