Survival Tip #77: A sock weapon Sometimes, we need to get creative in the absence of proper weapons. A great way to fight back in a pinch is with a simple sock - Take off your sock - Place something heavy inside it like a brick or rocks - Swing away with abandon! Basically what you are making is a weighted sap, which is an ancient police weapon. My sapper has 230grains delivered at 1300fps.
