Microsoft is currently working on the next version of the Windows operating system and has a tentative release date of April 2015. According to digitaltrends.com, this next version of Windows is codenamed "Threshold" within the company, but will probably be called Windows 9 eventually. This new version is aimed at leaving behind some of the criticisms associated with Windows 8, allowing Microsoft to move forward with a clean slate, says Techradar.com. Windows 8 has set back Microsoft, and Windows, by years, and possibly for good, says Winsupersite.com. Winsupersite.com also tells us that Microsoft will discuss its vision for the future of Windows at the BUILD developer conference in April 2014, the latter to hit just weeks after Microsoft completes its corporate reorganization. Maturing and fixing the "Metro" design language used by Windows will be a major focus area of "Threshold".

I would love to see the day when this company is no more.

If there is a Revolution, I say we make them release Windows XP without the back doors and the bugs. And forget about Windows 9.

I agree. It seemed to be a High Point.

This Windows 8 I'm forced into now is the most frustrating experience yet. There Used to be claims of moving towards more "Intuitive" operation. Now I get the feeling the main drive is to "Maintain their Jobs" by changes for change sake!

Went Mac and not looking back.
Every time a new Windows is released it gets paned by geeks and ends up being beloved by them within a few years.
XP is a good example. When it was released everybody hated it and it was full of bugs. Everybody loved 98 and warned against XP. I almost took a sledge hammer to my first XP machine. Now many love XP, and those who dont love 7.
When 9 comes out, people will be clinging to their beloved 8.

When I finally plugged in my imac (after two years resting in the guest bedroom), it was, and is amazing.

I'm now a mac-geek with no regrets or apologies.

I don't support making any company do anything. My dislike for Microsoft is because of their crappy operating systems. Microsoft does make decent development tools and office productivity products, but since it all has to run on their bug ridden OS with security holes everywhere, I don't use them.

I've had Apple computers since the II+. My mini running Snow Leopard will be my last Apple machine.

Apple's walled garden is not for me.

Why?

Between Google, Apple, and Microsoft, Microsoft today is actually the least evil.

Anything you got through the app store Apple can remove at any time.

What's really ironic is all of the academic scientists who use macs. Apple does not give a shit about them and will screw them in a second if it has a reason, like it did users of Final Cut Pro or Pages, or may do so even by accident or side effect of some change.

2000 was the first version of Windows I liked. I use 7 now for work, with linux in VM. 8 is retarded.

My home machine is a 2010 mac mini with 8GB Ram and an SSD, running Snow Leopard. On Snow Leopard it shall stay, until I can no longer do taxes on it, at which point I'll probably switch to Linux.

Have we found the one person who never heard of Vista?

Vista was not as bad as the hype. No Microsoft product is as bad as the hype, that was my point. MS is the company that everyone loves to hate, and people willingly swallow all the negative F.U.D. whether it is true or not.

I'm no MS fanboi, just a long time computer nerd who has seen it all.
I currently use Mac because Mac suits my needs better than Win8. It's just a machine.

Until my XP box fatally and finally croaked, it was tremendous; but after so many years, it finally gave up the ghost.

Good OS.

I really do not care. I have my hands full with Windows 8. ;)

I don't agree with that. The least evil of those three is Apple to me. I prefer Linux over any of them though and of course Linux is the least evil of them all. Android could have been good, but Google bought it and is messing it up. However Android is still open source, which is a lot more than you can say for Windows. I know Apple's OSs are also not open source, but they aren't trying so much to be just a software company like Microsoft and Google, but a hardware company that gives its custom made OS for their hardware away for free. Even Google beats Microsoft in this regard because they give their OS away for free and it is open source. I don't like Google, but I trust them more than Microsoft.

God is always good!

Good OS.

I am glad you didn't have problems with it, but I sure did and that is partially the reason I detest Microsoft so much. Steve Ballmer is another reason, the guy is one sick puppy.

Trust me, Apple's hardware is not free, by any stretch of the imagination.

You misread what I said. I said their OS that comes with their hardware is free not that their hardware is free.
