Pro-Israeli policies adopted by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper has dragged the country through the “diplomatic mud” since his election in 2006, writes an analyst in a column for Press TV.

In an article published by Press TV on Monday, Eric Walberg criticized the Harper administration for granting a new identity and passport to an agent of the Israeli spying agency Mossad who had been involved in an assassination plot in 2010.

According to the analyst, “Issuing a fugitive Mossad assassin a new identity on a shiny new Canadian passport” is the latest “in a string of humiliating, criminal coincidences” happening in Canada during Haper’s term in office.

Recently, Canadian news agency QMI quoted Arian Azarbar, a businessman, as saying that the Mossad agent, whose identity was not revealed, received the new identity and passport after his participation in the assassination of Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai in 2010.

Azarbar also told QMI that he had received the information from “the girl who was in charge of that file at Passport Canada.”

“Who is responsible for this string of humiliating, criminal coincidences, for dragging Canada through the diplomatic mud? Banning a British MP, breaking diplomatic relations with a peaceful state, issuing a fugitive Mossad assassin a new identity on a shiny new Canadian passport?...How about Harper?” asked the analyst.

Canada, a close ally of the Israeli regime, was one of the few countries that opposed the successful Palestinian bid in November 2012 to upgrade its status at the United Nations from “non-member observer entity” to “non-member observer state.”

The Canadian government also closed its embassy in the Iranian capital, Tehran, and ordered Iranian diplomats to leave Canada within five days in September 2012.

Harper has to go to extremes to garner votes and have a majority in Parliament, especially with socialistic Jews. Poll showed 52% of Jews voted for Harper Tories in the last election which along with pro-Israel media put Harper over the top.
