I remember years ago as a youngster working working for a man that treated me like a son that had many employees from all backgrounds, some of whom we're family or had been there decades. I worked on commission and sheepishly told him I needed a raise based on needs and past experience. He sternly admonished me that I had first count and was NEVER to ask him for a raise again.

I understood, and he was grateful until the day I left. I wasn't greedy enough. A shame for the both of us.
