Okay, for the last minute shoppers of this forum, how about some Christmas ideas. That's CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holidays.

Here's an idea from me only for those w/o small children at home anymore. I saw a group of co-workers playing with these at work today. The loser is literally shocked by the remote he is holding, whenever the winner scores a hit.

;) From the reaction of the "losers" I witnessed it was enough of a charge to be uncomfortable. I wonder what damage it could cause in the long term. Ooops, there I go again. ;p

Yawn...now if the loser had twenty bucks transfered from his/her bank account to the winner's bank account every time a hit was scored, that would make this more interesting.

An ELECTRONIC Funds Transfer (EFT) of course! Yes, you had better patent that idea.

I know what I want for Christmas. When I'm on the internet, I'm either reading and posting to boards like this one, or I'm playing games like BZ Flag where I get to blast people. The problem is simple: The people I want to blast aren't playing BZ Flag, they're on forums. I end up wanting to talk to the people I'm blasting and wanting to blast the people I'm talking to. The solution: a combination of forum and game, where people can get into their flame wars, and then "take it outside" and merrily blast each other, then come back inside and discuss what twits the other guys are. That's what I want for Christmas.

Gold and silver are real money, paper is but a promise.

heh-heh....every year they roll out the same old commercials for Chia Pets and 'The Clapper.'

They've been showing that same Clapper commercial for 25 years with the old lady lying in bed and 'clapping' off the TV.

Jokingly,I figured they could make a 'Chia Pet' in her image and have a new product called 'The Chia Clapper Lady" to add to the 'Chia Garfield' and 'Chia Scooby Doo.' :-)

That's CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holidays.

Happy Yule, Robin, and should the giants bring chaos to your Christ-mas, as you call it, Thor shall cause his hammer to cave in their skulls.

I got a couple of people (my wife and my dad) Sirius radio receivers with a year's worth of free (free to them, paid for by me) programming. Both Sirius and XM Radio are down to $29 ($39 with $10 rebate) for the receivers, and the service is about $13 a month.

I got my Sirius receiver about 6 months ago, and have been addicted to it ever since.

Disclosure: I do own 100 shares of Sirius, but only because I like the chart. OK, mostly only.

I love children, but I can never finish a whole one.

I was going to compare this to "rabbit ears TV vs. satellite TV", but I thought that as an intelligent person you'd have nothing but disdain for TV anyway. You're probably old enough to remember BBSes back in the 80s and early 90s. When you dialed up with a 1200 bps modem and could talk with like 3 people at a time?

Compare that to the internet. We're not quite talking the same scale here, but it's the same level of *wow*.

I live in a rural area, where my AM/FM choices are: 1) staticky (when it comes in) conservative talk from Mpls, 2) rap, and 3) country. New country, the sucky stuff, not Waylon and Willie and the boys. And I drive a LOT--I might put on 1,000 miles in a week, so I'm stuck listening to this crap, channel switching when the signal fades, changing CDs in the middle of traffic, etc.

Now I've got 55 different talk/entertainment channels including 2 all-comedy channels, CBC, BBC, MSNBC, 2 right-wing and about 5 left-wing (if you include NPR, which I always thought was lefty). All crystal clear no matter what part of the country I'm in. The only problem I've had with reception is when driving these grand tree-lined streets of the upper midwest--the trees will block the signal, as will parking garages and so on. I've got like 65 different music stations, covering everything from 80s alternative (my favorite) to reggae to classical to disco to old country--there's even an all-Elvis channel, and how cool is that? All for 40 cents a day. And when I'm not in my car, I can link to it on the net and play it in my home for free. That's a helluva deal in my book.

I love children, but I can never finish a whole one.

The loser is literally shocked by the remote he is holding, whenever the winner scores a hit.

That is truly bizarre. When I see the tv lately, I notice they appear to be promoting torture and pain in various tv shows. The other night I saw CSI, and the bad guy was a blond haired, very white (of course) little girl around 13 yrs old. No one will be off-limits when the "interrogators" are let loose in this country among our people, I believe that is the message.

I believe they are preparing the public for what is to soon come. CSI particularly bothers me because of how they portray white people. Minorities are almost never the bad guy.

It's alarming to see they are making "toys" of this nature though. Just another sign of the times.

I used to not really believe in the devil and demons and such, but I have to admit these days I truly wonder if that is what we have ruling us.

Perhaps in the future I can afford it.

S&W don't list the specific 357 that I have; rather odd (black, rubber grips, 2.25 barrel).

But when I bought, it was less than half the price of the .45 (above) for the same ballistics (on sale). I do prefer subsonic to supersonic in an enclosed area (I'm deaf enough).

It's a Model 19 (no pic on S&W website).

I was rather surprised at the accuracy of this short-barrel at 40 feet; standing (Weber?) got groups under 4 inches.

Fun with the ACLU

Wanna have some fun this CHRISTMAS? Send the ACLU a CHRISTMAS CARD! As they are working so very hard to get rid of the CHRISTMAS part of this holiday, we should all send them a nice, CHRISTIAN, card to brighten up their dark, sad, little world. Make sure it says "Merry Christmas" on it.

Here's the Address, just don't be rude or crude.
(It's Not the Christian Way ya know?)

ACLU
125 Broad Street
18th Floor
New York, NY 10004

Two tons of Christmas cards would freeze their operations because they wouldn't know if any were regular mail containing contributions.. So spend 37 cents and tell the ACLU to leave Christmas alone. Also tell them that there is no such thing as a Holiday Tree. . . . It's a Christmas Tree even in the fields!!

The Twelve Days of Christmas

The song, "The Twelve Days of Christmas" is a British Christmas carol. From 1558 until 1829, Catholics in England could not practice their Faith in an open manner. During this period, "The Twelve Days of Christmas" was written as a special song for young Catholics to teach them about their Faith. It was a 'catechism song.'

Each gift had a hidden meaning that would teach the children. "True Love" is God—not a smitten boyfriend or girlfriend. So all the gifts "given to me" are gifts from God.

The Partridge in a pear tree is Jesus on the wood of the Cross. The reason He is described as this bird is that He is viewed as a 'mother partridge who feigns injury to decoy predators from her helpless nestlings; one who is willing to sacrifice self for the life of others.'

In other words, Jesus is the Person Who is willing to die for all and by doing that became a Savior. The rest of the days have special meanings as well. According to Ann Bell in her book, Handbook of Catholic Sacramentals, the meaning is:

Two Turtle Doves—the Old and New Testaments of the Bible.

Three French hens—faith, hope and love.

Four Calling Birds—the four evangelists: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Five Golden Rings—The first five books of the Old Testament which describe creation and the encounter with evil.

Six Geese A-'Laying—The six days of creation which brought forth life and living creatures.

Seven Swans A-Swimming—The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Eight Maids A-Milking—the eight beatitudes.

Nine Ladies Dancing—The nine fruits of the Holy Spirit.

Ten Lords' A-Leaping—the Ten Commandments.

Eleven Pipers Piping—the eleven faithful disciples.

Twelve Drummers Drumming—the twelve basic points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.

They are great for cold climates and rough terrain!

They sell them in Anchorage. If I were super-rich I would have a 1000 acre forested parcel of land with a modest house right in the middle of it, and a couple of Icelandic ponies.
