We took out full page ads in Washington Times against Clinton. Both were over ten grand.
I joined in late 1998. I remember the ad. It was George Washington with a tear in his eye. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me. I may have donated to it, but won't swear to that.

Turtle Soup Ingredients 1 1/2 sticks butter Directions Turtle meat usually comes in 2 1/2-pound portions. In a large soup pot over medium to high heat, melt 1/2 stick butter. Add turtle meat and brown. Season, to taste, with salt and pepper. Cook for about 18 to 20 minutes or until liquid is almost dry. Add onions, celery, garlic, and peppers, constantly stirring. Add thyme, oregano, and bay leaves and saute for about 22 minutes**. Add stock, bring to a boil, and simmer for 30 minutes. Skim any fat that comes to the top. While stock is simmering, make the roux. In a small saucepan, melt remaining butter over medium heat. Slowly add flour, a little at a time, constantly stirring with a wooden spoon. Be careful not to burn. After all of the flour has been added, cook until roux smells nutty, is pale in color, and has a consistency of wet sand, about 3 minutes. Set aside to let cool until soup is ready (roux should be cool when adding to hot soup). Using a whisk, stir the roux into the stock vigorously, adding a little at a time to prevent lumping. Simmer for about 25 minutes. Stir to prevent sticking on bottom. Add sherry and bring to a boil. Add hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer and skim any fat or foam that comes to top. Add lemon juice and tomatoes and return to a simmer. Add spinach and eggs, return to a simmer and adjust seasoning. **Cook's Note: Caramelizing vegetables and meats very will to get the dark color you are looking for. ***Cook's Note: This is like a stew, eaten as a main dish. I was lurking there back then (under a different handle). Became active during the Buchanan wars. All of that was before Rimjob acquired the tech ability to ban people he did not like. My demise began when I found out that Rim Job and his dirty dozen were conspiring in the background to destroy people they did not like. I started off by planting anti semetic remarks and then watching them in the background alert each other that I was there and for them to gather and plow me under. Early on I got into their little private cabal behind the scenes, without them knowing I was there. Then I knew, we had been sold out. It started by one of them posting on FR what he had intended to post in private to the cabal. From there it was easy. One of the stalwarts threatened to come here, bash my brains in.

Well, I remember so many things from back then, at this date mostly positive. My mind scrubs bad times out of my memory banks. I went along and got along there. Then Bush/Cheney opened my eyes to the truth. I went to the FReaker Inaugural Ball for Dumbya and have a souvenir or two to show for it. It was a fun time and I try not to focus on the negative.
I may have met him. I probably did. I'd name a few names, but I'd have to dig deep into my memory banks. It's not worth it.
Interesting. Seems like that kind of activism was what FR was founded on until it turned into an income stream for the owner.

Indeed it was. When Rimjob obtained ability to ban people, he was like a madman drunk with power. It was an amazing transformation. He would go orgasmic with delight in booting posters. Meanwhile, in the background, he had been bought and paid for. We were being used and didnt know it.

If I recall, Howlin was a mad woman from down south somewhere and she ended up getting canned. Cannot recall for sure.

Howling, I could have gone the rest of my life without ever reading that name. It took me a while to see what was going on with FR. Local guy and I formed a chapter of FR here. This was back when there was an active chapter in DC. Our first real project was a property rights protest. We were organizing a rally here in California to start off a traveling protest that would end in Florida were vets were having their property stolen. Our posts were time sensitive so like other chapters we posted our threads in breaking news. Someone kept taking them down. My co-leader and I couldn't get an answer as to why. My co-leader got banned for asking. We finally found out through rumor. Jeb Bush was up for re-election that year and he had supported the property theft. JR was afraid that if our protest grew legs it would hurt his re-election. Then at a later date they protected a political operative who was pushing for the election of Arnold. People supporting McClintock were getting banned, including me, while the lackey was protected. It was so much bullshit.

they used to take 8 days start to finish. Then when things slowed down there would be a random outage to get those funds flowing again. And very little of the money actually goes to forum upkeep.

RimJob is a weak, petty man. When we were doing the newspaper ads, it occurred to me, that he was being forced into the background, intellectually he had nothing to add. I suspect he thought others would take his personal sandbox away.
