I remember when I was driving the big truck. I had a load of Mexican produce on that I had picked up in Yuma, Arizona. I was heading for the Indian casino in New Mexico to take my 10 hour break. I was in New Mexico on a two-lane road and came around a curve. The headlights fell on a big, brown object. It was an Elk!

I hit the brakes and moved as far right as possible without dropping the steer tire off the pavement. I just missed hitting it. It would have wrecked the truck if I had.

I put a broadcast out on the CB that there were Elk out here. Another driver came back and said, "Elk! I haven't seen Elk in a long time." I told him, "You don't want to see these Elk, Hand. They're too close to the road. I almost hit one." LOL
