Sources claim Google will spend more than $1bn (£600m) on technology Satellites will orbit the Earth at lower altitudes than traditional satellites Group also acquired a drone company to provide internet connectivity Facebook, meanwhile, is developing its own solar-powered drones, satellites and lasers to deliver web access to underdeveloped countries A separate Google project, dubbed Project Loon, is designing high-altitude balloons to provide broadband service to remote regions of the world

The world wide web may seem like a global community, but two-thirds of the planet still remain without access.

Now, Google is planning to change this by launching a fleet of 180 satellites to provide web access for the 4.8 billion people not yet online, according to sources close to the company.

The California-based giant will spend more than $1 billion (£600 million) on the technology, which will rival Facebook’s efforts to connect remote regions of the world.

Details remain vague, but the Wall Street Journal reports that the satellites will be small and high-capacity, and will orbit the Earth at ‘lower altitudes than traditional satellites.’

Google's venture is being led by Greg Wyler, founder of satellite-communications start-up O3b Networks, and depending on the network's final design, the group may double the number of proposed satellites.

The project is the latest venture from a Silicon Valley to connect the world to the internet in the hopes of boosting revenues.

THE TITAN DRONE

In April, Google acquired Titan Aerospace, the drone startup that makes high-flying robots which was previously targeted by Facebook as a potential acquisition.

As well as its satellites, The company hopes to use the Titan drone to provide connectivity to remote regions.

Power: Titan Aerospace's drone is covered in around 3,000 solar panels producing about 7 kW of electricity - it flies above the clouds, so it is exposed to sunlight constantly during daylight hours.

Wingspan and payload: 198 feet (60 metres) wide. The Solara 60 carries a payload of 250 pounds.

Speed: Cruising speed for the Solara is about 65 mph.

Function: The drone can be used for surveillance, crop-monitoring, weather and disaster oversight - or to provide communication.

Distance: The unmanned craft will have an operating range of over 2.8 million miles.

The helium-filled balloons inflate to 49ft (15m) in diameter and carry transmitters that could beam 3G-speed internet to remote regions.

Project Loon was developed in the company's X Lab by the same team behind Google Glasses and the driverless car.

It is hoped that it could save developing countries the high cost of laying fibre cables to get online and lead to a dramatic increase in internet access for the likes of Africa and south-east Asia.

In April, the company also acquired Titan Aerospace, which is building solar-powered drones to provide similar connectivity.

Facebook, meanwhile, has its own drone plans.

In March, Mark Zuckerberg revealed solar-powered drones, satellites and lasers are all being developed in the firm's labs to deliver the internet to underdeveloped countries.

He has pledged to work on technology to deliver the internet to 'the next 3 billion people' - and revealed the firm has hired experts in solar power that can keep drones flying for months at a time.

The Institution of Engineering and Technology's deputy president, Professor William Webb, said: 'The idea of using aerial platforms to deliver connectivity is one that is many decades old, from low-orbital satellites to balloons and more recently unmanned aerial vehicles.' Mark Zuckerberg said that drones, satellites and laser are being used in Facebook's labs to beam the internet to underdeveloped countries

Mark Zuckerberg said that drones, satellites and laser are being used in Facebook's labs to beam the internet to underdeveloped countries

'The difficulty has always been one of keeping the aerial platform in the right place in the sky for weeks or months at a low enough cost. As technologies mature we get ever closer to achieving this and Facebook's intervention in this space is a welcome boost to the area.'

He warned that there are many challenges to overcome before the dream of providing internet access to remote communities via drone can be achieved.

Facebook and Google also need to overcome regulatory hurdles, including coordinating with operators so their fleet doesn't interfere with other satellites.

'Top of the list is the need to make the drones cost-effective, reliable and demonstrate to the regulators that they can operate safely in our airspace,’ he added.

'Many other issues associated with access to radio spectrum, national telecoms regulations and more will also need to be addressed.’ PRIVACY IMPLICATIONS OF USING DRONES FOR INTERNET CONNECTIVITY

Companies such as Facebook and Google have a checkered history with privacy, and many have voiced concerns about how the site could use drones to collect data about people.

In theory, the drones could be used to take aerial images, or collect details about wireless networks and individuals.

As Facebook and Google's drones will be used to provide internet to people home's, there will need to be a limited amount of data collection to connect the homes to the network.

With this in mind, they are likely to be subject to strict regulation.

In the U.S, for example, the Federal Aviation Authority's (FAA) guidelines state private operators are allowed to fly their drones ‘recreationally’ and commercial drones are 'prohibited.'

However, earlier this year Judge Patrick Geraghty, from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) dismissed a fine, which the FAA had placed on a drone photographer.

Geraghty said Raphael Pirker’s camera drone was ‘not subject to [federal regulation] and enforcement,’ and therefore the fine wasn’t valid. It is unsure exactly what this ruling will mean for companies such as Amazon, and now Facebook, but it could see the restrictions relaxed.

The FAA is appealing. Facebook and Google are also planning to use these drones in areas outside the U.S., and it will depend on the individual country's laws on unmanned aircraft and surveillance.

The Mark of the Beast

Revelation 13:16And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, 17and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name.

meanwhile, over in israhell...

Government Plan Would Transform Israel Into The World’s First Cashless Society [btw, aren't they running the Federal Reserve?]

.....Will Israel be the first cashless society on the entire planet? A committee chaired by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s chief of staff has come up with a three phase plan to “all but do away with cash transactions in Israel”. Individuals and businesses would still be permitted to conduct cash transactions in small amounts (at least initially), but the eventual goal is to force Israeli citizens to conduct as much business as possible using electronic forms of payment. In fact, it has been reported that Israeli officials believe that “cash is bad” because it fuels the underground economy and allows people to avoid paying taxes. It is hoped that requiring most transactions to be conducted in cash will reduce crime and help balance the national budget. And once 98 or 99 percent of all transactions are cashless, it will not be difficult for the Israeli government (or any other government) to go the rest of the way and ban cash transactions altogether. But is a cashless society actually desirable? This is a question that people all over the world will have to start asking as governments increasingly restrict the use of cash.......

...some of the goals of the committee included finding ways to increase tax revenue and prevent money laundering…

Officials in the Prime Minister’s Office declared that “around the world, it is recognized that cash is a key element of the illegal economy and money laundering. It allows a wide gap between reported and actual incomes, with the corresponding effect on tax revenues.” By eliminating cash, the PMO said, “it will be possible to expand the tax base, and prevent money laundering.” The committee will study the issue from all its perspectives and make recommendations, the PMO said.....

now factor in the ramifications of whatever is supposed to go down on July 1st [what all the current bread and circuses are distracting attention from]:

pro.stansberryresearch.com/1310PSIEANEW/PPSIQ465 [the link worked for me when i tried to close it, and it asked me to stay on and i said "ok"]

"....With QE3, the latest round of "quantitative easing," the Fed is printing $65 billion a month. That's nearly a trillion dollars a year.

And now, finally, the impact of this is being felt in a big way.

As our creditors figure out what's happening, we are beginning to have very, very big problems.

I believe our creditors (which include foreign countries and other investors here and abroad) will either completely stop accepting dollars in repayment... or greatly discount the value of these new dollars. I'm sure you think that sounds crazy, but as I'll show you, it is already happening.

In fact, Zha Xiaogang, a researcher at the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, recently said:

The shortcomings of the current international monetary system pose a big threat to China's economy."

That's why China is now actively taking steps to phase out the U.S. dollar because of its frustration with the U.S. government's mismanagement of our currency. ....

As a result of what our government is doing today, I'm confident we will soon see an end of the U.S. dollar standard.

In fact, I'm 100% sure of it. It's not a matter of "if," but "when." And I think it's going to happen much, much sooner than most people think. In fact, I believe that a series of new laws, set to go into effect on July 1st, 2014, are going to accelerate this trend... in very dramatic fashion....

When Germans realized their currency was being destroyed in the 1920s, they got their money into Swiss Francs and gold as quickly as possible.

When Argentineans realized their currency was being destroyed in recent years, they did the same—by moving money as quickly and as quietly as possible into a safer currency and into "hard assets" like land and precious metals.

And it's the same with the U.S. dollar right now. As it continues to lose its position as the world's reserve currency, it will cause a brutal downturn in our economy, which will be about 10-times worse than the mortgage crisis of 2008. Remember, we bailed ourselves out of the last crisis by simply printing trillions and trillions of new dollars.

In a currency crisis, that's not possible. Printing money only makes the situation worse....

....when a new law enacted in 2010 goes into effect July 1, 2014: FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act) HR2847 passed by Congress and signed into law by President Obama. Apparently, there are some unknown surprises within it.

According to American Citizens Abroad,

FATCA also requires US citizens who have foreign financial assets in excess of $50,000 (higher for bona fide residents overseas – $200,000 for single filers and $400,000 for joint filers – see the IRS website for more details) to report those assets every year on a new Form 8938 to be filed with the 1040 tax return. Instructions for form 8938 were published in December 2011 and can be found on the IRS website. [1]

Any U.S. citizens living abroad should take note of a new form, i.e., Form 8938, which will have to be filed with the annual 1040, starting with the 2014 tax return.

Here's the official IRS/government spin about FATCA.

www.irs.gov/Businesses/Co...-Tax-Compliance-Act-FATCA

One of the things Stansberry mentions is a probable new wealth tax of 10% on EVERYTHING we own, plus nationalizing 401k and pension plans! A while back I had heard the Obama administration realized that USA 401k and pension plans total values were close to the national debt, so that could be a way to save the country from bankruptcy while everyone will have an opportunity to pay his/her fair share to help bail out the country – apparent Socialism in action! Here we go – again – bailing out those who muck up! ...

Additionally, I'd been hearing about a 10% "haircut" on all USA bank customer accounts similar to the Cyprus-style event ever since that Cyprus bank fiasco [5], which probably was a "trial balloon" to see how it would "fly". However, Stansberry seems to think something like it may become a reality for the USA starting in July 2014 since the U.S. dollar is in the process of being shunned as the “world reserve currency.” Who would have thought that the Chinese Yuan would be considered to take its place? See what buying all those cheap “Made in China” goods did for US?

Who knows what will happen, especially with the turkeys we have running Washington, DC. Anything, I guess, is possible. So, I'm sharing this with you in order that you may have a leg up just in case you haven't heard about the new tax, plus IRS law enforcement taking effect July 1, 2014.

www.activistpost.com/2014...ffective-july-1-2014.html

that's what i'm gathering from it so far. maybe you can explain it better. maybe they will confiscate the worthless dollar, and make us all deal in digital chinese yuan, after taking the mark of course. and the Wall-Street-Criminals-Who-Threaten-that-Economy-Will-Blow-Up-If-They’re-Prosecuted will keep on taxing bankrupt americans for their counterfeiting fraud with the help of their komrades at google. there will be no place to hide. hope i'm way wrong.
