My best road side produce story was several years back, coming home from Lake Buchanan when I spotted a vendor pimping tomatoes, etc, so I got a basket of 'maters.

When I got home and was washing the 'maters, there were the produce stickers from HEB (a regional grocer) still stuck on my "vine-ripened" prizes.

True story.
