Vegas Cop Killers Awash in White Supremacy, Rightwing Conspiracy

Local reporting: After fatally shooting two police officers, assailants placed 'Don't Tread On Me' flags over bodies

- Jon Queally, staff writer

Bystanders watch police activity from a Roberto’s Taco Shop behind a Wal-Mart on Nellis Boulevard on Sunday, June 8, 2014. Two suspects allegedly shot two Metro Police officers in a nearby pizza shop, then fled to the Wal-Mart, where they fired shots before killing themselves. (Credit: Las Vegas Sun / Steve Marcus)The perpetrators in Las Vegas who shot and killed three people on Sunday—including two police officers gunned down while eating lunch in a pizzeria—were reportedly members of the white supremacy movement who espoused rabid anti-government and racist views.

Local news outlets report that the two shooters, a man and a woman, shot two officers at CiCi's Pizza in a local shopping complex before fleeing to nearby Walmart where they killed a civilian bystander near the store entrance. Later, they took their own lives as police moved in.

As the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports:

One officer was reported dead at the scene, while the other died later in surgery at University Medical Center.

Witnesses told police one of the shooters yelled “This is the start of a revolution” before shooting the officers. [Sheriff Doug Gillespie] later said he could not confirm that.

The shooters then stripped the officers of their weapons and ammunition and badges, according to a law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation. They then covered the officers with something that featured the Gadsden flag, a yellow banner with a coiled snake above the words, “Don’t tread on Me.”

The flag is named for Christopher Gadsden a Revolutionary War general who designed it. It has recently come back in vogue as an adopted symbol of the American tea party movement.

According to the Las Vegas Sun, the couple—whose names have not yet been officially released but lived in their area—had a reputation among their neighbors "for spouting racist, anti-government views, bragging about their gun collection and boasting that they’d spent time at Cliven Bundy’s ranch during a recent standoff there between armed militia members and federal government agents."

Brandon Moore, who lived in the apartment complex where the assailants are believed to have lived, told the Sun journalist that the couple "were handing out white-power propaganda and were talking about doing the next Columbine."

The Sun adds:

Sara Andrea, a resident of the complex, said the assailants were known to walk around town dressed as the Batman comic book characters The Joker and Harley Quinn.

"No one associated (with them), but everyone knew these people," she said.

Residents who spoke about the assailants all mentioned the couple's relationship with Bundy.

Oak Tree resident Sue Hale said the two told her they were in Bunkerville during the standoff, which occurred in April after federal authorities began conducting a roundup of Bundy’s cattle. Bundy had defied the government by grazing the cattle on public land without a permit.

"Yap, yap, yap. They were always running their mouths," Hale said.

This jumped out at me yesterday. Cop killing revolutionaries don't commit 'suicide' after killing cops. They live to kill more. NYC of the late 1960s taught me that.

You're right; so, we're left to wonder about them. They sure seemed nutty. Their murderous violence will be very useful to, and appreciated by, our Media.

Things that make you go "huh"?

It is reported that they took the officers guns and ammunition and that they had a suicide pact which was carried out in a nearby WalMart.

So why take their guns and ammo?

That is strange. If I had done something like that, I wouldn't have killed myself. I'd want to stick around at least long enough to watch the news and enjoy my handywork.

So why take their guns and ammo?

I'm not reading much into that: possibly it was symbolic, possibly it bought them more time; certainly it gave them more firepower. Awful as it sounds, it permitted them in an unarmed society to be "unopposed."

After committing a violent crime, Heading to a WalMart (where guns are sold) sounds like a suicidal idea to me.

Well, IMO one wouldn't shout 'viva revolution', strip the bodies of guns and ammo only to trek to WalMart and quickly consummate a suicide pact. On one hand this has all the markers of an assassination from the radical 60s, while on the other, it smacks of unadulterated BS. I'm leaning toward toward BS when I consider the question "Cui bono"?

As a kid, I learned that watching westerns on the tellie.

If possible, I do it today.

"Cui bono?" Yes, ask. But my advice to those who inform about the loss of liberty in our country: you're dealing with a populace which has been lobotomized. People don't even know what freedom is anymore.

Yes, I'm saying it could happen that a couple of apartment dwellers got over-indoctrinated. If not this time, some other time in the future, it may happen and more than once. Propaganda is just not worth the terror it can unleash. Hearsay and unproven allegations have consequences.

Bigger question: so people are erratic? It won't justify the militarization of our police. It won't justify "Pause for Safety" laws. It won't justify any infringements on our Bill of Rights. But that will happen. Instead of an armed citizenry who could have fired first or at least returned fire, it's a disarmed populace, and it will only get worse.

My condolences go to their families and the people of their community who have suffered this loss. Nothing good will come out of it. Nothing.

Me, too, and I'm not one to jump on a conspiracy theory band wagon too easily.

There's the 2 shooters dressed up in Batman character costumes posted on the woman's facebook page. ( we're kook bad guys announcement)

Then there's the woman working as a manager at Hobby Lobby angle.

Then there's their support for Clive Bundy angle.

Then there's the swastika and a yellow "Don't tread on me" flag.

Then there's the good citizen with a concealed and carry gun who can't save anyone much less himself angle. ( guns not only kill but they're never any help)

Then there's the SPC volunteering to put in their nutty, corrupt 2 cents.

It was a tragedy that 3 innocent people died in the course of this grade B film.

I'm not angling for BS, but if I were, I'd be wondering how those two officers were doing in their careers.

Let me put it to you this way Deasy, one officer was 41 y/o and still working patrol. Unless he had less than 5-years on the job, he was on the fast track to nowhere.

FYI, contrary to media hyping the association of the 2 kook killers with Clive Bundy supporters, Bundy's son said today that the 2 kooks were kicked out after a couple of days because the kooks were quickly identified as being radical nut jobs. So the Bundy association is a dead end for MSM.
