The New York Times had a wonderfully insightful chat with erstwhile Woman-For- President 2016 candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton over the weekend. As it turns out, Hillary Clinton is a bible-thumping, sin-hating, street preaching, wildly on fire for the Lord Jesus Christ born again Christian. Or not. NYT: If you had to name one book that made you who you are today, what would it be? Hillary Clinton: At the risk of appearing predictable, the Bible was and remains the biggest influence on my thinking. I was raised reading it, memorizing passages from it and being guided by it. I still find it a source of wisdom, comfort and encouragement. (full interview here) Now, if Hillary had said that the Bible had been “an influence” in her life, this wouldn’t even be a story. The Bible ‘influences’ a lot of people who don’t allow It to change them. But she said that it was the “biggest influence” in her life, and that’s extremely transformative language.
