This was the 5th annual show, it was a winner! Hotter than hell, about 98 F with 55% humidity, but that didn't stop a record turnout.

There were lots of Shelby Mustangs, various late-model Cobra Mustangs, some Pantera's, etc. No telling how much that parking lot was worth with that vintage iron on it. The building in the background is Legacy Texas Bank: Aaron Shelby, executive vice president of Legacy Texas Bank and the grandson of Carroll Shelby. They threw a great event today!! (9 images)

Carroll gave great iron.

What an event...great that you could make it.

Good to see someone sneaked their Merc into the show.

Two Mercs if you count the Pantera.

Credit has to go to DeTomaso; L/M dealers just sold'em.

Fair enough, I wasn't sure how they were titled. The German/UK Capri's didn't have a single part that said Mercury but were titles as such, as best as I can recall. although the Aussie built 91-94's did, even though they were Mazdas except for sheetmetal. At least the Panteras had a genuine Cleveland built 335 series, fire-breathing, snot-stomping, 351ci monster V8 at the heart of them. Until the EPA figured out what was happening, anyway. F**k Nixon! :)

No clue how they were titled either - all I could do was look at'em and think, damn! that's gorgeous...

Nothing is prettier than a '70 Merc Cyclone. Bunkie screwed the pooch when he limited the Boss 429 to Mustangs. All the sophisticated styling of a rum-runner Coronet-440, all the technical excellence of 72 Toronado! :)

If I were rich, I'd have a GT40, which I think I spot in there, if not more than one. The NOOOOOOOOISE! Not for country roads, though.

Yes, there were four or five late model Ford GT's, which are the new version of the GT40 that Ford sold for a couple of years back in 2004. You can see a couple of them at this SCAT club picture album, along with lots of Shelby Mustangs, late model Cobra Mustangs, and Mustang GT's/Mach 1's, etc. Picture #5 is a smoking hot red Mustang Mach 1 that had a constant crowd:

Only the original would do it for me. Spartan interior. Through-the-window entry. Mid-engine right behind the driver's seat. Tube frame. Roll bar. And the sound while driving, like nothing else.
