I’ve been fired

from RBN, where I’ve done the Weekend Interview Show since August of 2004. They want all the hosts to pay $50 an hour to be on the shortwave, and though I probably could’ve gotten some sponsors, I didn’t want to be on shortwave and so I’ve been replaced.

This is all for the better, because now I’ll have to figure out how to do the next project bigger and better…

My best to everyone at RBN.

Click the link to read comments on the blog entry. 10 years ago it might have been worth it to fork the money to have your show on shortwave. But today? Besides that, domestic shortwave transmissions are not very strong and many international broacasters come in stronger and are easier to listen to.

They want all the hosts to pay $50 an hour

That is some serious horseshit.

Well crap.

Scott did a super job with his weekend interview show.

With the coming changes in the data over phone lines, shortwave is going to be toast, as I understand it...and besides, I never could get any of the shortwave receivers to pick up squat.

This is a bad move by rbn.

damn, RBN is going the way of the dodo, unfortunately. i wish John Stadtmiller had downsized his facility and cut his overhead in order to keep his hosts and to keep the network on the air. i know the network can't be expected to pay the SW bill for all the hosts though.

you have to listen to today's investigative journal. They experience a government attack blocking Greg's home phone and cell phone during the show. The guest being an expert in this area is still connected and conducting the show for Greg. This all happens toward the end of the first hour and continues into the second hour (where I am right now)....

fascinating to say the least.....
