Seems like every household with a long gun is a potential member to me.
If they are willing to utilize it, then yes. The question is when do we use our weapons and who do we shoot first ?
"Resolve to serve no more, he says, and you are at once freed. I do not ask that you place hands upon the tyrant to topple him over, but simply that you support him no longer; then you will behold him, like a great Colossus whose pedestal has been pulled away, fall of his own weight and break in pieces.
The militia at Lexington and Concord were prepared and willing to resist disarmament.
Firing began and the shot was heard around the world. That seemed as good a time as any to keep shooting. I think this is why the group at Cliven Bundy's ranch were spared an attack: the government forces with questionable legal authority did not want to see such a shot fired. The Bundys are still there and the government is fuming.
If members of this San Antonio militia can gain enough strength to defend some of the worst crossing areas, they may come into contact with forces with questionable legal authority. Any force used against them would be seen as an attack on the nation itself. Those involved would have to weigh the question: would such a shot be heard around the world? It would be heard but would it be a game changer?
I think even without triggering an uprising, an injured militia member defending our borders would force certain uncomfortable dialog in D.C.
The Tea Party had triggered widespread disagreement, forming two separate groups of colonists. The wheat was divided from the chaff.
A patriot shadow government was in place.
Militia groups were gathered, trained, and commanded.
The purpose was legitimate: self-determination and self-defense of communities from the Indians and other marauders, like the British.
Intelligence gathering was effective and efficient.
See American Preparations in particular. This had taken planning and coordination among some well-respected figures.
A final word: the American people are being rushed toward a GOP replacement president in 2016. Like Reagan and Bush II, this will not represent any change to the immigration issue. Do not look to the GOP for a solution. Do not wait for the GOP for a solution. DO not be calmed by the GOP in any way.
If the American people realize what is happening to them, no shots will need to be fired. That would be for the best, by far. Should shots be fired, and continue firing, there are extermination options in place for the few who join and the few who support.
Peace would be preferable to what is being done to this country inside and out. I hope for all our sakes that Americans recognize that the rule of law is the only thing that will save us now.
And just where do we go to get the rule of law honestly applied here?
The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out... without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, intolerable. ~ H. L. Mencken
To the border, as I'm hoping the San Antonians are planning to do. The law requires entry into the US to be regulated and immigration to be handled under certain parameters. Those, as liberal and excessive as they are, have been flouted. If the San Antonians are willing to go to try to staunch the flow (carefully, and legally) then they would be doing the work the feds and the states aren't. Any interference with them would be seen by other patriots as obstructing justice.
My hope is that the feds will not want a confrontation and they will seek congressional clarification. Then the debate could resume with the knowledge that there is strong unity against open immigration.
For escalated efforts, the kind of unity described at the wiki site above would be an absolute requirement. I'm thinking of a kind of advanced neighborhood watch for the South West.
(Washington Times) A militia has set up a command center south of San Antonio to prepare for what they say is a mission to protect the United States from the influx of illegal immigrants.
The militia, operating via the website PatriotsInformationHotline.com, founded by Barbie Rogers, said members at the command center in Von Ormy will deploy to Laredo first and spread to other parts of the border, a local ABC affiliate reported.
Chris Davis, the 37-year-old commander of the group, would not disclose how many members make up the militia, but said the troops would deploy in a few weeks.
We have patriots all across this country who are willing to sacrifice their time, their monies, even quit their jobs to come down and fight for freedom, liberty and national sovereignty, Mr. Davis told the station.
Customs and Border Protection said in a statement that it does not endorse or support any private group or organization from taking matters into their own hands as it could have disastrous, personal and public safety consequence, the station reported.
CBP appreciates the efforts of concerned citizens as they act as our eyes and ears. Securing our nations borders can be dangerous. Interdicting narcotics and deterring and apprehending individuals illegally entering the U.S. requires highly trained law enforcement personnel, the statement said.
According to the Patriots Information Hotline, there are 4 credible militia operations on the ground currently in Texas.
We only have contact with one. We hold an open invitation for all active or potential groups on the ground to contact us for any help we have to offer, the website said.
And in Arizona, the group said they have contact with three troops on the ground. The group is recruiting volunteer members for all operations.
The group will secure the border in a legal and lawful manner and volunteers are being vetted through criminal background checks, Mr. Davis told The Houston Chronicle.
A call to the Patriot Hotline, was met with a request for a name to perform a criminal background check to make sure you dont have any felonies, but it is unclear what documentation is required, The Chronicle reported.
Many of the members participating were also part of the standoff at Cliven Bundys Nevada ranch.
I have made contact with Mr. Cliven Bundy, a post on the groups website says. Mr. Bundy says thank you all for your support and continued thoughts and prayers. He and his family are all well. They dont need anything at the moment. But they really appreciate the fact that the patriot community has continued to stand by them.
I hope they have some of the more sophisticated weaponry. Or it will be the Roman Legion against the Red Army. Or get the military to side with Americans and their own county for a change and not the Bolsheviks in Tel Aviv.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." Samuel Adams, (1722-1803)
I agree with you about the Murrah Bldg and the collapse of the militia movement.
As necessary as I see for the formation of local militia units it seems to me that most of the groups formed end up being infiltrated.
