The militia at Lexington and Concord were prepared and willing to resist disarmament.
Firing began and the shot was heard around the world. That seemed as good a time as any to keep shooting. I think this is why the group at Cliven Bundy's ranch were spared an attack: the government forces with questionable legal authority did not want to see such a shot fired. The Bundys are still there and the government is fuming.
If members of this San Antonio militia can gain enough strength to defend some of the worst crossing areas, they may come into contact with forces with questionable legal authority. Any force used against them would be seen as an attack on the nation itself. Those involved would have to weigh the question: would such a shot be heard around the world? It would be heard but would it be a game changer?
I think even without triggering an uprising, an injured militia member defending our borders would force certain uncomfortable dialog in D.C.
The Tea Party had triggered widespread disagreement, forming two separate groups of colonists. The wheat was divided from the chaff.
A patriot shadow government was in place.
Militia groups were gathered, trained, and commanded.
The purpose was legitimate: self-determination and self-defense of communities from the Indians and other marauders, like the British.
Intelligence gathering was effective and efficient.
See American Preparations in particular. This had taken planning and coordination among some well-respected figures.
A final word: the American people are being rushed toward a GOP replacement president in 2016. Like Reagan and Bush II, this will not represent any change to the immigration issue. Do not look to the GOP for a solution. Do not wait for the GOP for a solution. DO not be calmed by the GOP in any way.
If the American people realize what is happening to them, no shots will need to be fired. That would be for the best, by far. Should shots be fired, and continue firing, there are extermination options in place for the few who join and the few who support.
Peace would be preferable to what is being done to this country inside and out. I hope for all our sakes that Americans recognize that the rule of law is the only thing that will save us now.
To the border, as I'm hoping the San Antonians are planning to do. The law requires entry into the US to be regulated and immigration to be handled under certain parameters. Those, as liberal and excessive as they are, have been flouted. If the San Antonians are willing to go to try to staunch the flow (carefully, and legally) then they would be doing the work the feds and the states aren't. Any interference with them would be seen by other patriots as obstructing justice.
My hope is that the feds will not want a confrontation and they will seek congressional clarification. Then the debate could resume with the knowledge that there is strong unity against open immigration.
For escalated efforts, the kind of unity described at the wiki site above would be an absolute requirement. I'm thinking of a kind of advanced neighborhood watch for the South West.
