The Russian Investigative Committee has arrested two suspects in yesterday's Moscow metro tragedy. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning when a train derailed between the Park Podedy and Slavyansky Bulvar metro stations. According to the latest information, 22 people died and July 16 has been declared a day of mourning for the victims. Russia's President, Vladimir Putin, has expressed condolences to family and friends of those who died. Valery Bashkatov, track supervisor of the Moscow Metro unitary enterprise and Yuri Gordov, assistant track supervisor, have both been arrested, the Russian Investigative Committee said. They are suspected of violating transport safety reegulations (Article 263.1, part 3 of the Russian Criminal Code). The suspects have been questioned the authorities plan to press charges against them and press for a suitably deterrent sentence in the near future. According to the latest information, 22 people have died and 129 hospitalized, of which 42 have been left with severe injuries.
