"Quilt Hop attracts quilters, quilt lovers

Quilters and quilt lovers have their plans all sewn up for this weekend because the 2014 Bonham Quilt Hop began Friday, July 25 and continues Saturday, July 26.

The event kicked off Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. with quilt displays at eight locations around Bonham, showcasing historic, antique, and contemporary quilts, including quilts from the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky."

Here's the quilt I displayed. The Dresden plates were made by my Mom and the quilt was assembled by my Grandmother. The individual pieces in the 'pinwheels' are dress scraps from the 1940's that my Grandmother saved (during the war, everything was saved!).

Whoa! what a wonderful surprise, thank you!

Our grandmother, Exie Ray, was a founding member of the quilting club back in the day. The ladies would get together (monthly?) and sew their quilts as they gossiped about the news of the day while quilting.

They had an annual sale of their gorgeous quilts and would designate a portion of the proceeds to college scholarships for the local HS graduates.

If you haven't yet, treat yourselves by clicking on one of the quilts to enjoy the most beautifully reaffirming of life slideshows.

Quilts are labors of love; beautiful, joyful, and full of hope for those that they cover and comfort every night.

Does anyone know where high quality, cotton-batting, quilts can be purchased?

Thanks much, lod
