No clue when, but perhaps they didn't wish further blasphemous damnation by using the term Israelite in mis-identifying themselves.
The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out... without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, intolerable. ~ H. L. Mencken
There are tons of reasons to think differently about the Hebrew/Jewish misconceptions promoted by establishment churches/religions. I don't care to list them all as I have had this conversation many, many, times with others.
When Jacob (AKA Israel) went to marry he was instructed by his mom to go to his uncle Laban's neighborhood, which he did. Now "think" about this; his uncle's name means "to be white" ... this wouldn't be so weird except the people of that area and era were mostly dark skinned.
Jacob had been instructed by his mother not to do like his brother Esau and marry a "strange" (foreign) woman. So, Jacob (Israel) was marrying within his own race.
Side Note: The Jewish encyclopedia states that modern Jewry descends from Edom (Esau).
EDIT: The twelve tribes split into 2 groups. The Ten Northern Tribes were the Tribes of Israel and the 2 Southern Tribes known as the Tribes of Judah. The Tribes of Israel are called the TEN LOST TRIBES, while we are told the other TWO Tribes of Judah are the "JEWS" and entitled to the entire estate know as Israel today. What I'm trying to say is that even though I believe the Ashkenazi Jews are complete imposters, even if they weren't imposters they aren't Tribes of ISRAEL, and they haven't got any right to the land they are occupying.
