Title: My Questions on 9/11 WTC explosions/collapses (VANITY)

I was wondering if any of you good folks can point me to articles or information about the WTC collapse. Like most people I just took it at face value that the planes flew into the buildings, exploded, and the towers collapsed. I'm usually not gullible, but heck, I saw it with my own eyes and I'm not an engineer or physicist or explosions expert.

Now I'm starting to wonder about just how a plane could fly into a skyscraper like that and make the whole thing collapse. Not just once, but twice. How is that possible? I would expect that there'd be one hell of a hole but we have tornados that hit skyscrapers and don't knock the whole thing down. I'm not some kind of crank who believes in conspiracies around every corner, but sometimes they actually do happen.

I'm wondering what folks think are the best sites for info? I'm aware of Awoken but are there any others? Also, does anyone have any info on other incidents of planes flying into buildings/structures and what happened as a result? Have any computer simulations of 9/11 been done with the appropriate simulation for planes, fuel, building construction, etc., to see exactly what the most likely result of such a collision would be - scientifically speaking?

Either those buildings were badly designed, which is possible, I guess - but they did withstand earlier bombings, didn't they - or there's something fishy here. I think enough time has elapsed from the grief of 9/11 to start looking at this objectively.

I always tell people of Jimmy Walter's offer of one million dolars to anyone who can prove the towers were not brought down by explosives. Go Here: http://Reopen911.org

Then there is the paper written by Professor Steven Jones of the BYU physics department that proves WTC 7 collapsed from explosives pre-positioned prior to 9-11. Go Here: http://www.physics.b yu.edu/research/energy/htm7.html

There is a website dedicated to WTC building 7 which never was hit by a plane but collapsed in 6.6 seconds which was just .6 seconds longer than the 6 seconds it would have taken for a 47 story building to collapse in free fall. Go Here: http://www.wtc7.net

I've started looking over some of these sites, again - thank you all. It appears pretty obvious that the govt investigation into 9/11 was the 21th century version of the Warren Commission.

What the govt never seems to take into consideration is that our own bias and emotions (for most people) is automatically in favor of our govt. Who wants to believe that their govt is totally corrupt, run by evil men and women, and that we have no control over it, nor any true democracy? That's a bitter pill. However, when the govt goes through such extraordinary lengths to cover up information, prevent investigation, stop witnesses from testifying, hides evidence - one has to look at the govt as the prime suspect. What other conclusion could be drawn?

If the govt were not so eager to cover things up and lie to us, they could have simply presented the perfectly plausible idea that more Islamic terrorists had hidden explosives within the WTC and, timed with the plane hits, detonated them. This would have given them an entirely plausible reason for the explosions and the behavior of the buildings without having to cover anything up. But such a simple (if untrue) explanation doesn't seem to occur to these folks....

What the govt never seems to take into consideration is that our own bias and emotions (for most people) is automatically in favor of our govt.

You have to be very young and uninformed to say something like this. Most people do not trust the government, of that I can assure you. Poll after poll confirms this fact. No one in their right mind would buy a government story that Islamists just planted the bombs in the WTC when we weren't looking. Very few mostly naive people would buy such a story. The government knows that people don't trust them, that's why they employ the major media outlets to effectively deliver their propaganda to the masses. More people trust the talking heads on TV and radio than any politician. When they get together and push a story it's hard to counter it no matter what facts you have on your side. But even the talking heads wouldn't convince enough people to believe that we just happened to have such a lack security at the WTC, even though we knew it was a terrorist target and had already been bombed in '93, that allowed terrorists to slip in and plant the massive amounts of explosives that would have been necessary to bring down the towers in the way they were observed to fall on 9/11. Nope, very few would buy that story no matter who peddled it. It's much easier to convince the masses that the planes impact with the WTC towers and the resulting fires led to the collapse of both structures. The reason they can get away with this lie is because very few Americans have a scientific education and even fewer have an understanding of basic physics. The USA has been successfully dumbed down. BTW if you are not "hittable", then why the screen name "mehitable"? Not that I would want to hit on a total stranger that I have never seen, just curious.

Good analysis.

"Subconsciously, people know that buildings don't just fall down. That's why 9/11 was such a shock. It stretched our minds to deny previously conceived notions about the world and physics in general. For some of us, it didn't work."

Mehitable is an old Bible and Puritan name I like.

I beg to differ - I think the "natural" inclination of most people - their desire, if you will - is to trust their govt. It is BECAUSE the govt cover-ups are SO ludicrous and extreme and don't fit the physical facts, that intelligent people come to the bitter conclusion that they cannot trust their govt. However...look how many young people willingly have gone to Iraq. Look at their parents and families that support their presence there. These are people who STILL trust the govt. They want to trust it. The proof of that is that they are willing to put their lives on the line based on what that govt tells them. They need to believe these lies. I just don't understand why the govt doesn't construct better lies. OF COURSE people would believe that Muslims would plant explosives in the WTC. Most people in this country believe that Muslims would eat live babies. If the govt, had come out with that story after 9/11, it would have stopped most enquiries and the stupid public would have been perfectly happy to believe it, and it would have fit the physical facts.

That said, I am neither young (nearly 50) nor naive. I think I may have a better grasp of how much people want to believe in their govt and the dream of democracy than you do. I don't think most people are as jaded or cynical as you think. Maybe about certain things with the govt, but I don't think most people can accept the idea that we no longer have a democracy, and haven't had a true one for decades, and that our govt has been run by the same relatively small group of people for many presidencies, and that group is now secure enough to come out in the open with the first Bush presidency, and to complete its plan for destroying the United States and completing its goal (along with the rulers in other areas) of creating a one world govt under corporatism. If you said that to the average American - they would think you are insane.
