Both.

He was an FBI informant when he was doing his show, but obviously fell out of favor with them as he was arrested (for taxes?) and is still doing time the last I heard.

Wonder why he was working for the feds to begin with. Probably they had or manufactured something on him and coerced him -- but what a great warning to anybody who actually wants to be a stooge. Never seems to be any shortage of them!
