Hey y'all, I was re-reading about Gen. Smedley Butler and the whole "Business Plot" to overthrow FDR and the govt and establish a fascist dictatorship back in the 30s, and came across this timeline. The events described are eerily familiar.... Take a look.

TIMELINES OF THE GREAT DEPRESSION:

uh..deja vu?

The Iraq War is an unconstitutional, unjustifiable conflict devouring innocent lives and abetting the growth of an increasingly lawless leviathan state. It must be ended -- now.

It's really spooky, Christine. Like most people, I know of the Depression from my parents (or grandparents) and movies, but I didn't know how it ramped up or many of the details. The emphasis is always placed on the stock market crash, but as we can see from the timeline - there's a LOT more than that. And much of what happened in the 20s has been happening now. A lot of this timeline could be ripped right off the headlines of the past few years, even to the present. I guess we're just doomed to repeat it.

Obviously written by a liberal. I did read Smedley Butler's book. He also named John D Rockefeller as on of the men who asked him to overthrow the government. Butler won the Congressional Medal of Honor TWICE.

The economic dislocation of the 1920s was created by WWI. We entered WWI in order to prolong the war, to bankrupt England and France, to set up a communist dictatorship in Russia that killed 350,000 priests in the first 2 years and to create a Jewish state in the Mideast. The side effect was to create economic dislocations. None of the intended and unintended consequences of WW I benefited any of the soldiers who served. Over 30,000 Americans died during the war but another 100,000 died within 10 years from wounds received during the war.

I don't care if he's a liberal or a green skinned Venusian. The truth has a ring to it and this sounds pretty clear to me. We need to hear from a variety of points of view, and we are not getting that via our "liberal" media. As far as this article goes, I was struck by how many parallels can be drawn from comparing what was going on the 20s to what is going on right now. Corporatism is running wild and getting everything it wants, short of an absolute fascist dictatorship. But they're working on that.

I guess I don't think liberal/conservative liberals really mean that much when you get down to the bottom of it. The actual two teams are the same as they've always been throughout history: the haves and the have-nots. And the haves always want to be "have-mores". Whatever goes to them, is money, material and resources, pay, benefits, perks, etc, that is not available for working and middle class folks.

here's a whole website dedicated to those who were involved in The American Liberty League

Tons of info and yes...the Bushes were also involved in the overthrow attempt.
