Hillary Clinton Gets Machiavelli Book at Democrats' Fundraiser

Hillary Clinton accepted an illustrated version of Niccolo Machiavellis "The Prince" on behalf of her three-day-old granddaughter at one of two fundraisers she headlined for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in Manhattan today.
New York Representative Steve Israel, the DCCC chairman, gave Clinton the adaptation of Machiavellis treatise on political philosophy, several other books and an infant-sized New York Mets uniform. Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky, the first grandchild of the former secretary of state and former President Bill Clinton, was born on Sept. 26.
"Machiavelli is a must-read for anyone seeking to understand power," Israel said in a statement. "I'm sure this will be helpful to Charlotte as she navigates the cutthroat world of the playground and 'mommy and me.'"
Hillary Clinton spoke about economic security for the middle class at a lunch with 60 high-end donors to the DCCC and a lower-dollar event for about 300 contributors to Democratic candidates, Israel said.
She told donors, "You shouldnt have to be the granddaughter of a president" to have access to opportunities, Israel said.
