I have had just about enough BULLSHIT from this incompetent government about ebola. They say it isn't airborne. BULLSHIT! A semantic definition based on droplet size. If the ebola patient coughs in your direction, you're FUCKED! They say it can't be spread via food and water. BULLSHIT! If the ebola patient contaminated the food or water, and you consume it, you're FUCKED! They say you can only catch ebola from a symptomatic patient. BULLSHIT! Ebola patients don't go from playing basketball to bleeding out their asses in one moment. The early symptoms may be mild and unnoticable. When a stranger on the street brushes up against you, depositing his sweat on you, and his only symptom so far was a mild fever and cough, you might be FUCKED! And the masked, face shielded, gowned, and gloved nurse in Dallas, WHO NOW HAS EBOLA, would like to tell you, YOU ARE FUCKED!! Every one of my former colleagues knows DAMNED WELL how isolation procedures are followed in hospitals and ambulances. Not so well. Mistakes happen. Tired nurses cut corners. Isolation precautions look great on paper. To protect the asses of the hospitals that write them. They don't happen that way in real life. Deny it, you lie. Degrees in environmental science and public health, paramedic medicine, and nursing, and a quarter century of experience as a paramedic and critical care nurse, imforms me that THEY ARE FUCKING LYING TO THE PUBLIC, AND WE ARE ROYALLY FUCKED!! Feel free to deny (i.e. lie) the truth. I won't argue with you. Truth is truth: you can't have opinions about truth.

And, sorry assed housekeepers with no supervision will not go get a ladder in order to reach and clean high places. (If policy requires them to bring one after an isolation for instance it still doesn't guarantee it will be combined with arduous, effective labor in the pursuit of excellence, you know?) And they won't even change sheets if there's no blood, sputum, wrinkles or visibility from the nurses' station to rat their lazy asses out. (I've witnessed this personally, once. But until proven otherwise I'm going to assume that it's ubiquitous; everywhere that staffers are culturally predisposed to laziness and resentment of the well paid administrators and inspectors, particularly if the higher ups are part of the oppressor class/demographic-in other words, everywhere that the germs, fungi and viruses are safe from soap, antimicrobial chemicals and water.) Next time you visit a hospital take a quick survey of any housekeeping staffers you see. Your conscious effort may surprise you as it did me many years ago. The infection control nurses in the hospitals that I worked were all white, and the lowly, underpaid, hungover and put upon staff were...not. And, as members of the administration the IC nurse supervisors were too important to actually supervise, room by room. They'd either been in meetings or planning their next out of state seminar on "new and better ways" to prevent the inevitable MRSA, Necrotizing Fasciitis and Legionaire's blooms that are incubating safely in the rooms, hallways and rooftop chillers. One factoid that is never reported is, all hospitals that experience outbreaks have reported 100% compliance with all sanitary procedures. They never submit reports that read of missed rooms by lazy, hungover or doped staff. But, the accreditation committees all understand that which is never documented. But, they won't pay one dime more for the jobs than the market minimum, and they won't even pay nurses to supervise every crew while they perform the crucial sanitation cleaning chores. Why, they'd have to admit that certain demographics either don't understand the training films about how tiny little creatures invisible to the naked eye can sicken or kill, or, housekeepers think they can decide what areas have been exposed, or they just don't care, or a combo of all of these reasons for minimum exertion while on the clock. And, G_d forbid that blacks and Hispanics as a matter of policy are supervised by "responsible supervisors" (wink wink) even if it will save lives. As long as unsuspecting patients continue to arrive at their admitting and ER entrances like sheep queuing up for inoculations and never ask to read the infection control reports or show the slightest concern about the invisible colonies of death all around them then nothing will change. The job of detailing every square inch of a treatment area, i.e., walls, lighting, curtains and gurneys, wheels, floors, equipment and stands, tables and containers would be exhausting for dedicated and determined workers. It's an improbable expectation for employees who are paid for their education and the level of training needed to do the job. And, there is no wage level increase or higher pay grades for those with exceptional work ethics. Is there anyone who doesn't understand that, arguably one of the most important jobs in health care institutions is performed by many pissed off, underpaid people who find it easier than picking veggies for a living? And unlike agricultural labor housekeepers don't get paid by the baskets full of germs they collect. Tired nurses cut corners.

Every fall, as the weather turns crisp and cool, "Rosa" cheerfully hands out homemade tamales from her cleaning cart to deserving patients as she makes her daily rounds, it's a cultural tradition that the staff approves with a wink and a nod ;) ...admit that certain demographics either don't understand the training films about how tiny little creatures invisible to the naked eye can sicken or kill, or, housekeepers think they can decide what areas have been exposed, or they just don't care, or a combo of all of these reasons for minimum exertion while on the clock.

I wish the medical professional had signed off on this gem. We need nurses, doctors and others who are connected to patient care to stand up and walk out if necessary. Their lives, and ours, depends on an honest assessment of Ebola.

You would not believe how Obamacare mandates - lots more electronic record keeping - have negatively affected doctors and even nurses re: patient care. Physicians are barely treading water right now and having the energy to get through their 12-14 hour days, nevermind have any residual energy to get involved politically. And don't count on the AMA to do do anything politically - they may have M.D.'s by their names but many of them aren't/haven't been in the trenches doing patient care, seeing the risks in hospitals. They're often from academia, are wannabe politicians like Tom Frieden so what I'm saying is the suits in medical societies, associations leadership will not rock the DC Dem Party political boat either. We need nurses, doctors and others who are connected to patient care to stand up and walk out if necessary.

I'm hearing this same thing from my son who is an RN is Philly. And don't you just love our political hacks when they talk about protocols? They make the typical loony left assumption that once a person attends an in-service training, and reads a handout, they become an expert in isolating infectious diseases. Nothing could be less realistic and only repeated training and exposure to live situations could render a skilled technician. We're in serious trouble with these fools in charge.

The Ebola nurse in Dallas flew commercial when she was coming down with Ebola symptoms and Tom Frieden - the useless Obama lackey at the CDC - is criticizing the nurse for taking the commercial flight exposing others to Ebola ( as he should) but this same Thomas Frieden refuses to advise Obungler to stop commercial flights coming into the USA from Africa with plane loads of potentially infectious Africans! I work 16 to 24 hour days, thank you. I have said this in another post, but I am seriously thinking about leaving medicine VERY soon. Ebola scares the s--t out of me, and I have too many loved ones depending on me. The potential for a pandemic even beyond the Spanish flu is overwhelming. I am reminded of Stephen King's "The Stand".

And, lets not forget the fourth and fifth, the collapse of the Gulf floor (thanks to BP) releasing enough natural gas to suffocate and/or explode the planet, and the Yellowstone Caldera exploding and blocking out The Sun, thereby extincting all life that depends on photosynthesis.
