Australian students will soon be able to learn robotics from Steve Wozniak, one of the brains behind Apple's original technology.

In an exciting move for Australian education, the co-founder of Apple and all round awesome guy Steve "Woz" Wozniak has taken up a role as Adjunct Professor at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). UTS announced today that Woz aims to join them in December.

He’ll be a key part of the UTS “Magic Lab”, which is the university’s centre for innovation and enterprise research looking into robotics and artificial intelligence.

Seeing as Woz was the inventor of the first Apple computer back in 1976 (and the company is now worth $US613 billion), we think he'll have plenty to teach the tech developers and entrepreneurs of the future.

This is the first appointment as a university professor that Woz has accepted anywhere in the world.

"Woz loves the energy, the vibe and the robots in the Magic Lab," said lab director Mary-Anne Williams in a press release. "Woz is a strong advocate for technology and its impact on society. He constantly highlights the new possibilities for technology to change the world and he will be working with us to help UTS reach its vision to be a leading university of technology."

"The students have been totally wowed by the attention he has given them, one claiming he had changed her life in less than 60 seconds," she added.

Word on the street is that Woz is also hoping to become an Australian citizen.
