Wow. Here’s one of those stories that just makes you smile. Mike Dirosa, a police sergeant in Jefferson Falls, OH, is going above and beyond the call of duty, taking it upon himself never to kill any of the 60,000 people who reside in his hometown.

Dirosa, who’s lived around the corner from the police station his entire life, says he never killed anyone in his neighborhood while growing up. And even after joining the police department, he’s keeping up the habit.

“These people have given me so much—not murdering them is my way of saying thank you,” said Dirosa, who admitted that fellow officers sometimes give him a hard time for adhering so obsessively to the no-killing rule. “I’m not in this for publicity or anything like that—I guess at this point, not killing my neighbors has become one of those things I do without even thinking about it.”

Sound implausible? You can chalk it up to the incredibly deep roots that bind Dirosa to his hometown, where for more than nine years he’s refrained from killing anyone whomsoever. That includes children and other cops, of course, but amazingly, Dirosa also takes pains not to kill people wearing hoodies, people walking at night, suspects in crimes, and even teenagers, whether or not they’re armed.

Mike Dirosa is just more proof that, every now and then, it’s good to hear about people doing nice things for no reason at all.

What about you? Do you kill people you see in your city or town? Why or why not? Let us know in the comments!

I believe that Mr. Dirosa should reconsider his position with respect to bad cops and for the greater good go ahead and kill a few.

That was hilarious.

The whole article reads like it's from The Onion but you can't make this shit up.

Amazing what this nation has stooped to over just the last 20 years or so.

"Good cops" usually are the ones standing around and over people getting beaten just watching.

They all learned their lesson by watching Serpico.

I'm sure it's just BS.
