An Alabama gun shop employee is backing away from controversial remarks he made in a Facebook post on Veterans Day.

Michael Schuette said he became angry while reading social media comments praising veterans for their service and posted remarks that have angered people all over the U.S.

“OK, for my yearly Veterans Day speech…to all vets…you are NOT hero’s,” Schuette posted. “You got paid to learn how to fight and kill for profit. You ‘Served’ your leader…You followed the rules and made it out of whatever country you terrorized alive.”

“You got a check and a holiday,” he continued. “YOU NEVER FOUGHT FOR ANY OF MY FREEDOMS!!!!! You fought for corporate interests…You never sacrificed for this country…You did so for your government owners…You did nothing for American citizens…YOU WANNT MEET HERO’s???? Well, shake hands with CIVILIAN EMTs, nurses, firefighters, lawyers and anyone in the ACLU…Please feel free to add some more hero’s below but Veterans are you NOT American hero’s.”

The Anniston man said he has received 1,400 emails, 200 text messages, and hundreds of voice mails from military supporters who were upset by his comments.

Some of the messages pointed out that Schuette’s wife owns Outlaw Gun Repair and Hydrographing, and he now plans to step down from his position repairing firearms at the shop.

“Next time don’t bite the vets hands that feed your freedom of speech….they bite back,” one person posted on the company’s website.

He eventually took the post offline, although Yellowhammer News preserved a screen capture, and said he has been apologizing ever since he posted the remarks.

“I’ve spent the last 12 hours on the phone with veterans all across the nation who have called me, let me know their feelings and told me their stories,” Schuette said. “I am very humbled. I am very apologetic. I have taken down the post.”

Some of the messages he’s received contain apparent threats against his life and health.

Schuette, whose grandfather and stepfather served in the military, said he did not intend to personally disparage veterans.

“I did not mean for it to get out,” he said. “My anger was misplaced. I am angry at the machine that sends out children to war senselessly.”

Schuette said his best friend, who’s currently serving in uniform, was also deeply angered by the post.

“He’s so mad at me right now about this post he won’t talk to me,” he said.

as one who was in from carter to bushtheyounger I have to agree with his assessment. it is pretty much what I tell those who try to thank me for my 'service'.

I used to be in a hurry, then I figured out I was just getting nowhere fast.

Well hell's bells, even most of the people in the military know that they are not heroes just because they wear that government uniform. You have to do something heroic to be a hero, something like falling on a grenade to save your buddy's life. To go halfway around the world to shoot at and kill people who have never done anything to you because some politician started a "nice little war" for the benefit of the military industrial complex does not make anyone a hero.

Americans who have no experience with, or knowledge of, tyranny believe that only terrorists will experience the unchecked power of the state. They will believe this until it happens to them, or their children, or their friends. Paul Craig Roberts

"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it." Frederic Bastiat

That covers it well, however, if you do not place a value on your service, consider that if you did not go, drafted or otherwise, someone else would have been taken.

Your service allowed ONE OTHER man to stay home out of harms way.

The huge majority that serve, bleed and die, are like myself, from the lowest segment of society, always. In denying thanks as an unwanted praise, one denies those that gave it their all.

In my case, that includes a brother and many many friends.

None of us "served", the law and social circumstances put us there, not some high minded cause.

Reminds me of jury duty.

The judge thanking us for our "service..." - a joke.

I have been able to opt out of jury duty, Cynicom did not have an "option" other than go or be sent to Fort Leavenworth. I think he told that some young men didn't even have that option? That they were forcibly sent overseas, come hell or high water??

That they were forcibly sent overseas, come hell or high water??

The term hero is misused and in wrong context in this case.

There are the dead, the wounded and the survivors.

I wish I had photos of the young kids being taken away in chains and leg irons. Flown directly to the front, with a life expectancy of two days.

Their offense? They refused to go "voluntarily".

By including both lawyers and the nest of Jews that reside in the ACLU, this Alabama hayseed disqualifies himself from serious discussion.

He's only a hayseed in inexplicably throwing them in. In his semiliterate indictment of militarism, before and after the rabid reaction he got, he shows more intelligence and integrity than 99% of Ivy League faculty.

Most regrettable that he succumbed to the lynching, which only shows how right he was! These "heroes" claim to be fighting for our freedoms, e.g. free speech, and in the same breath threaten to kill us for basic exercise of them. Ironies too ripe for words, too sickening to be funny.....

All troops take an oath to protect America from her "enemies foreign and domestic", but people attending to the latter, the real battle for America's life, are called dangerous "extremists" or conspiracy "THEORISTS". Military veterans scorn the very idea that the government that sends them to die in the opposite hemisphere is the real cancerous growth, one of the numerous dividends DC and the NWO derive from keeping people terrified of terrorists. "Don't talk to ME about saving America," vets tell me, "I've served my country in uniform!"

This discussion reminds me of a girl I knew from grade school up. She was never political or ideological, but in classmates.com reports having had a comfy white-collar DOJ job and career in greater DC since we all grew up, adding "let's hear it for the troops and the wonderful job they do protecting us".... meaning of course "I've got great pay and benefits so it's a moral good that we're bombing hospitals, schools, aspirin factories and wedding parties in countries Israel hates".

I apologized for bullying her in second grade but didn't have the heart to point out to her that it's all a Bizarro genocidal fraud.

Grow that heart.

Show her the vid of the drone pilot killing a child being told it was a dog.

I talk like this,,, I got military deep in my own family. It is a source of contention but if they want to justify killing the innocent I will not stand with them but against them. In defense of the innocent.
