These Georgia Women are Done Being Victims and Plan to Arm Themselves
CBS Channel 46 in Lithonia, Georgia, says a group of women who live in the Fontaine Condominiums have drawn a line. After a series of armed robberies, the women are buying guns and stun guns to defend themselves. DeKalb County police say five people have been attacked in the condo development since July, four of them women.
Dolores Bates was attacked a month ago. She says tearfully, “I am trying to better my life, and this has taken a toll on my sleep, my work at school – I don’t want to go no more because I know it is dark when I get home.”
Residents have asked the management for security. The police say the area is at risk for crime because of foot traffic and many apartment complexes. The women are tired of waiting, and plan to ensure their own safety.
