Those were scarey days. Lost lot of friends that way. Out of 75 crews we had two blacks. Two. It was NOT racism.
No black B-17 crewman in Europe, nor over the Pacific Theater of operations. General Curtis LeMay pulled off the hat trick of the whole war when he sent the B-29's over Japan at night and at low altitude.

During Korea, we should have cried racism. Blacks were not doing their fair share of dying.

But, but, their ancestors were slaves! Isn't that enough suffering to warrant several generations of searching for loose shoes and a warm place to shit??
