Zemir Begic, 32, was driving around at 1:15 a.m. in the city’s Bevo Mill neighborhood when at least three juveniles approached his vehicle and began wailing on it with hammers, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The driver, a Bosnian immigrant, got out of the car to confront the assailants, who started yelling at him and pummeling him with the hammers, cops said. After the vicious onslaught was over, Begic — who had only been living in St. Louis for a year — was left battered and broken with injuries to his head, face, mouth and abdomen.

He later died at St. Louis University Hospital, according to the Dispatch.

A 15-year-old and a 16-year-old male were both in police custody Sunday evening as investigators worked to determine a motive, the Dispatch reports. Police said they also know the name of a third suspect and now believe that a fourth was involved as well.

St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson said Begic’s killing did not appear to be motivated by race or ethnicity.

“There is no indication that the gentleman last night was targeted because he was Bosnian,” he said. “There’s no indication that they knew each other.”

Suad Nuranjkovic, 49, was riding in the passenger seat of Begic’s car at the time the unprovoked assault began. The two were on their way home from a bar when the teens bombarded them near the intersection of Gravois Avenue and Itaska Street, according to the Dispatch.

As Begic stood up to the hooligans, Nuranjkovic was able to run across the street to safety.

“I was afraid that if one of them had a gun, they were going to shoot me,” he said. “So I didn’t know what to do.”

Nuranjkovic — who is also Bosnian — has no idea why they were singled out.

“I don’t know why this is happening to Bosnians,” he said. “We could go around and shoot people, too, but we just want peace.”

Outraged Bosnians took to the streets Sunday night to voice their grievances over Begic’s murder and also bring attention to other recent aggressive acts aimed at their people — including the 2013 fatal shooting of a 19-year-old immigrant in Bevo Mill, according to the Dispatch.

Demonstrators, including Begic’s sister Denisa, marched to the location of the heinous hammer attack and called for more to be done to protect the Bosnian community from violence.

“I hope justice is served for my brother because he didn’t deserve this at all,” Denisa said. “I don’t know what to think of it. It’s so wrong what they did.”

In Missouri, they might have ended up in a morgue for even walking down the center yellow lines in single file. In California, I think pedestrians have the legal right of way wherever they are in the street, which might have been a contributing factor there for why Reginald Denny's truck had to stop in park, unlike the Minneapolis car that kept driving. What a difference a State makes that way.

Of course! Only a fool acts like a tough guy when he is greatly outnumbered by equally tough Negros. He should have acted meek, respectful, and drove off as soon as possible. That is what I would have done.

It is best to avoid fights because you might get injured or worse. I know the tendency is you want to teach them (Negros or whoever) a lesson. However, even if you win, they probably will not change and, even if they do, there are millions just like them and you can't change them all. Therefore, rather than putting oneself at risk, let other tough fools teach them a lesson.

I'm thinking his reaction was sane for a Bosnian who hasn't been warned about the threat our Black brothers hold. There should be warning booklets handed out as Caucasian immigrants enter America, but that would be racist. It isn't so much that he thought he could stop them, it's more that some men react spontaneously to danger (beta males need not apply). Some men run into a fire, some run away. Some protect their property & loved ones. Some drop everything and flee. As you know I love boxing and Bosnians are making a big splash in what remains of the sport. They show a fierce spirit and what this kid doesn't shock me having watched many fight to the last punch.

I've also come to realize over the course of my lifetime that anyone who tells you what they would do in the face of eminent danger, is basically clueless. When adrenaline kicks in our actions become unknown - fight or flight in real time. I find it heartless how some people know both what they would do and how this kid should have behaved. Sad stuff.

You'll remember these two. In the wake of now mainstream talking head Al Sharpton's hate-filled rabble rousing and incendiary incitement following the non-arrest of George Zimmerman, these apes carjacked a Sanford, Florida white man, Mark Slavin, repeatedly bashed Slavin’s head, face and body with a hammer, causing damage to 75% of his skull. The 50 year old victim also suffered a broken arm, a broken hand, a broken jaw, and caaught pneumonia while on life support.

You won't find a picture of Mark Slavin on the internet, or anywhere else for that matter. His family was so afraid of publicity and the cockroaches that it might attract out of the woodwork that they managed to keep his photograph out of the papers.

No national figures publically grieved for this man. We never even learned of his death until long, long after it happened, Mr. Slavin having lingered on for weeks in an Orlando ICU before succumbing to his injuries. It took some digging to find out that information because the family wanted that kept quiet too. You have to have a load of sympathy for them. Your heart goes out to them and the victim. He must have suffered terribly before he died.

It took some digging too to find out what happened to the waste of space known as Julius Bender and Yahaziel Israel. It took two and a half years for the Florida courts to adjudicate these two. The one on the right, who looks like he ain't all there got 20 years. My grandma would say he came out about "half- cooked." The other murderer, the one that looks like he might be able to reliably spell his name got 25. Both were ordered to pay $18,000 in restitution, for what that's worth.

Strange things happen when the likes of Alfred Charles Sharpton, Jr. comes to town.

Anyway, this case bothered me no end when it occurred, and I just had to nose out what little was known about it & thought I'd share it with you all.

Do any of the posters who think this kid's behavior was dopey realize that it all began when one 15-year old raped the back of his car w/a hammer. He got out to confront the kid when the others appears and killed him. I'm not sure if this will change anyone's mind as I've come to realize that positions, once taken, rarely change even when additional facts are introduced.

I forgot about that one. Another "non hate crime" given the victim was White. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting bigger for me by the day, but I hope young, White men in this country don't lie down and let this racism run them over.

Breaking: ANOTHER HATE CRIME– 3 Black Men Pull Woman From Car, Ask If She’s Bosnian – BEAT HER

On Friday morning there was another vicious attack on a Bosnian woman near Bevo Mill in South St. Louis.

St. Louis police are investigating an alleged hate crime in the Bevo neighborhood early this morning that left a 26-year-old woman beaten.

According to a police report, at about 5:30 a.m., a Bosnian woman was driving on the 4600 block of Lansdowne when three black males in their late-teens to early-20s stepped in front of her vehicle.

When the woman tried to drive around them, the suspects reportedly pulled out a firearm, so she stopped the car.

After hitting her windshield with a crowbar, the suspects pulled the woman from her car, threw her on the ground and kicked her.

A suspect grabbed her purse, searched it, and told the others it was empty. All three suspects then fled the scene.

Police say the woman said she thought the crime was racially motivated because the suspects asked her if she was Bosnian.

Incident: Robbery 1st Location: 4600 block of Lansdowne Date/Time: 12/5/14 @ 05:25 Victim: 26-year old white female Suspect(s): Three unknown black males, late teens-early 20s The victim stated she was driving in the 4600 block of Lansdowne when three unknown suspects walked in front of her vehicle. When the victim attempted to drive around them, the suspects displayed a firearm and ordered her to stop her vehicle, to which she complied. One of the suspects then approached the driver’s side, produced an object, possibly a crowbar, and struck the windshield of her vehicle. The suspects then ordered the victim to exit her vehicle. The victim refused and one of the suspects pulled her out of the car. During this time, another suspect opened the passenger side door of the vehicle, went through the victim’s purse and stated that it was empty. One of the suspects then pushed the victim to the ground and kicked her. All three suspects then fled the scene. A passerby located the victim on the ground and contacted this department. EMS responded, however the victim refused further medical treatment and said she would respond to a hospital at a later time. As of now, officers are investigating this incident as a “bias crime” based on the victim’s account of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.

Wow, this is about to get real. The Bosnian's aren't going to let this go, nor should they.

But this President and AG have fanned the flames of racial unrest, specifically black hatred for whites.

What with Affirmative Action in force, blacks are getting unearned perks left right and center.

I would like to know if this woman had, rather than trying to go around the perps, had mowed them down if she would have been charged and prosecuted. It should be self defense especially in light of the fact that it appears that white Bosnians are being targeted.

I didn't realize until now that as of 2012 over 4000 Bosnians have been naturalized in St. Louis in the past decade. Bosnians must have strong community in St. Louis, opening businesses and getting ahead.

My guess is that she'd be charged with manslaughter in light of the St. Louis City Fathers worried about Ferguson redux.
