With Goldi-Lox dead and the year coming to an end, the time has come for me to bid a fond farewell to all of you. This is my final message on Liberty Post.

I have been planning this for a while now. This board was a refreshing refuge from the madness at TOS, and I have really enjoyed my years here, but as time has gone by I have found myself posting less and less frequently -- not just to this board, but to the Internet in general. I'm afraid that over the past twenty years of being on the Net I've said pretty much all I have to say on every topic, and I feel as though I'm just repeating myself endlessly to no good purpose. There was once a time when sites like this had value, where people could hash out ideas or argue about the truth or just flame away for pure entertainment, but now we are in the post-idea, post- truth, and post-entertainment era of the Information Age, and I don't see the point in banging on and on. Oh, there are still ideas, there is still entertainment, and of course there is still truth, but you won't find them on the Internet. They are to be found in Real Life.

For this reason, and for others, I have decided to resign from the Internet -- or at least from the Internet of message boards, of reading and posting and arguing. In 2015 America, there is nothing left for us to argue about. Everyone has long since staked out a position on the battlefield of opinion and they are going to defend that position, right or wrong, to the death. I'm no fan of cops, as most of you know, but when people start shooting them in the face because the Internet told them to, it's time to say goodbye. When you can be stalked. hunted, fired from your job, beaten, or even killed because you posted an opinion that the Internet didn't agree with, it's time to bid the whole mess adieu. I mean, this whole thing is really getting out of hand. This is nuts.

I will still have e-mail -- I have to, for business reasons -- and I will still read the news and do a certain amount of research online. I will very likely watch the occasional cat video as well. But I'm more or less finished with the Tubes for any other purpose. I think I'll try discussing the issues with other, non-electronically-augmented human beings, while there still are any. I think I'll attempt to enjoy the world of bees, babies, and books again, while bees, babies and books still exist. Less time typing things for strangers, more time staring into tea mugs and drawing funny pictures. My kids are still little, but the are growing up, and I think I'll go spend time goofing off with them while I still can.

So adieu, everyone. It's been fun, but the year is going, Goldi-Lox is gone, and I think that's my cue to go as well.

Goodbye, Liberty Post.

I don't know when I have ever read a nicer opus than that. Most of the people who write them are pissed at the owner of the board or some of the posters and they flame them on the way out. But I thought this one was good and thought I would share it here.

But you should be able to gain new insights from what others say and come up with new conclusions.

Yeah, I can see that but I can understand his point too. It seems to me he was saying that he was kinda tired of beating his head against the wall. I think we all feel that way at times, some more than others.

It is a good opus. I've felt that way for a long time. It's why I usually don't engage anyone in discussion/debate. No real point to it.

That seems to be the rule here on 4um, though. People have differing views, but not much discussion/debate. You say what you think, maybe read what others think, and move on. Nothing to talk about. Insults are pointless and just plain rude.

But if it's a topic I'm really interested in and find someone else genuinely interested, then it's a different story. But no, changing peoples minds isn't something to be attempted.

yep. 99 out of 100 won't change their minds, but knowing that still doesn't stop me from trying--especially on 9/11.

have you seen this? it's so me.

What I like best about this one is that it doesn't claim any particular "theory" about who and how 9/11 was carried out. It focuses on the inability of our trillion dollar defense systems to stop the planes. It focuses on the people who covered up details that have yet to be published. It focuses on the statements people made before and after the event. And it focuses on who benefited from the wars that were fought.

The Afghan war itself has cost us about $1 trillion, and more money has been spent there to rebuild than during the entire Marshall Plan in Europe, according to the Financial Times of London.

If 9/11 were carried out by completely by Arabs it wouldn't make a bit of difference to me: it's how we failed to stop them, how we gave up our freedoms afterward, and how we attacked countries based on lies benefiting Israel that matters the most. Like Perl Harbor, the Japanese were real, but we had attacked them already without telling the American people about it.
