Franklin Township, NJ– A 10 year old boy was struck an killed on Sunday evening by a speeding police vehicle as he walked to his friend’s house for a sleepover. The officer was reportedly responding to a call and did not have his lights on when he hit the boy in front of the child’s two young friends.

The boy was pronounced dead on the scene around 7pm. As of Sunday evening, the child’s name has not been released to the public. His friends were not injured.

A witness and family members assert that the officer did not have on his lights or sirens as he traveled at fast speeds, NBC reports. Lights and sirens serve as a warning to the public to be cautious, not using them endangers the communities that the police claim to protect.

“This is all a big crew of friends,” said a woman who identified herself as a family friend told NJ.com. “Nothing will ever be the same again.”

The police officer was also taken to a local hospital, although it is still currently unclear if he was injured.

Gloucester County Chief of Detectives John Porter has offered condolences to the family and says the accident is currently under investigation with an autopsy scheduled for Monday.

This death, while a tragic accident and not a cold blooded killing like what we saw in the case of 12 year old Tamir Rice- killed immediately without warning by police as he played with a toy gun in a park, is still an example of reckless police forces acting without regard for others.

Amazing conclusion, especially with few facts available.

It appears to be another example of the the erosion of standards that municipalities & cities employ in order to achieve the proper mix of misfits. I'm at a loss as to how the politics of diversity & multiculturalism have missed the spotlight of some.

When exceeding the posted speed, aren't cops supposed to have lights going, and sirens when approaching an intersection?

Absolutely, providing they are fluent in English.

Look at who was assassinated in NYC - Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu.

When I started out in that very pct. in 1968 the names likely would have been Kelly & Palumbo.

Liu was born in China and Ramos was a school crossing guard prior to finally passing the test at 38 y/o. The test & physical they passed is like everything else when compared to the same thing 45 years ago; dumbed down for the purpose of diversity. It's impossible for me not to see what has happened and I get that the general public doesn't, but sometimes it's important to take a step back and try & understand how we have gotten to where we are.

So with Micks and Wops things were great, eh?

Now with Chinks and Spics everything has gone to hell.

I had to look up the appropriate spelling for those:

I thought immigration was one thing that made this country great.

That was a hundred years ago.

Not so much today.

I disagree with you.

Many segments of ethnic immigrants 100+/- years ago were discriminated against - for their ethnicity.

How many Jews can fit in a VW Beetle? We all thought that was hilarious.

I heard this one as a kid.

p.s. If I'm confusing race with ethnicity please don't shoot me.

Cheers.

Of course they were hammered when they arrived, but, they sucked it up, assimilated as Americans, and succeeded on their own, and their kids did even better.

They didn't need any affirmative action, or any other fedgov bs to help them live here and thrive.

(Yes, we all know how many jews can fit in an ash tray, thanks)
