Dead Constitution See other Dead Constitution Articles Title: Obama Says Only He Can Ignore the Constitution Obama Says Only He Can Ignore the Constitution President Obama never ceases to amaze me. Now, this is a guy who taught Constitutional law at the University of Chicago. Presumably he knows and understands how the branches of government are supposed to work. But, apparently, he doesn’t think the Constitution applies to him. (Link sources from here.) Mind you, he says that this exception only applies to him. Future Presidents shouldn’t be allowed to show discretion in doing their jobs, just him. I’m not sure exactly how he figures that he’s so special. Now, in case you weren’t paying attention in civics class during your school years, our Federal government is split into three branches: legislative, judicial, and executive. Each of these branches has a specific job to do that does not overlap with the other two branches. The legislative branch makes the laws. The judicial branch determines whether the laws are legal when challenged. The executive branch’s job is to enforce or implement, i.e. execute, the laws. How they choose to enforce or implement the laws is their choice. Whether they get to enforce or implement a law is not their choice. Unless your name is Barack Obama. Some Constitutional scholar, eh? So, his reason is that, “Hey, we all know these folks are here, and it’s just not practical to enforce or implement laws, so I’m just going to choose not to even try to do anything that is my job in relation to immigration.” Really, that’s his reasoning. Don’t believe me? The video is at the links above. I’m not kidding. Of course, it is humorous that George Stephanopoulos, who was in Bill Clinton’s administration until December 1996, is the one asking the questions. It’s always an enjoyable scene watching one liberal smack down another. Then again, some liberals have morals and good intentions (even if their politics don’t make sense). Others… not so much. Unfortunately, even though it’s clear that Obama is trying to squirm out of the question and is on questionable (at best) legal ground, many Democratic hard-liners will still bow down and try to justify Obama’s shirking of his job responsibilities. You know, what we hired him to do. Sometimes, the blind really do lead the blind and straight into a ditch. Let’s just hope and pray that they don’t drag the rest of us in with them.
