Title: U.S. Representative Thomas Massie Announces He Will Not Vote to Re-elect Speaker Boehner

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Massie issued these reasons to support a new candidate for Speaker of the House:

For years I watched Washington from afar and suspected that something was broken. Why is it that so many people approve of their congressman, yet they consistently disapprove of Congress? During my first two years as a congressman I discovered a significant source of the dysfunction. I watched the House Leadership:

• Schedule a fiscal crisis in a lame duck session on the last legislative day before Christmas to get maximum leverage over rank and file members,

• Mislead members into thinking that a vote on an unpopular bill was postponed, only to then conduct a rushed voice vote on the $10 billion unfunded spending measure with fewer than a dozen members present,

• Give members less than 72 hours to read bills over 1,000 pages long, and

• Remove members from committees simply because they voted for the principles upon which they campaigned.

With a process this broken, is it any wonder that Washington no longer works for the people? My constituents expect better and America deserves better. On January 6th, 2015, I will vote for a new Speaker who will consistently articulate a constitutional vision for America and facilitate an inclusive and orderly legislative process that allows Congress to truly reflect the will of the people.

Sounds good. Hope they can get enough people together to show Boehner the way to the cloakroom. Where he can stay.

Good, but not good enough....

Vote, but not for anyone on their second term or greater.

Then when you can gain the floor, resign, tell the American people that the system is criminally corrupt, walk away.

Do it as an American, as a man, not a politician.

Let's not hold our breath on that ever happening in deecee.

Suppose that happens and a special election is held in that man's district: who do you think would win? Certainly a shill for Israel, at minimum. It's too late for grandstanding, only a mass-hanging of all the scoundrels in DeeCee will send a message to their would-be replacements.

Few can resist the bribes, of all possible stripes, that are offered up to the congress.

Painfully, and sinfully, few.

I'll be most interested to see how three of "my" candidates do there: McSally-AZ, Love-UT, and Ernst-IA. My personal best for contributing to "winners".

I would not call it grand standing.

For any explosion, there must be ignition, if no one is willing to lead the way, it will continue into the abyss.

Working within the system does not work, will not work, has never worked. The system is too big, it devours all that venture in.

Americans that voted did speak in the last election, the results will be lost and meaningless unless someone takes up the cause.

That will not happen and Massi will be one of the troops in a matter of months.

The first day in office, any new representative, knows in one year he must run for office again.

When the Speaker yells, the newbies drop their drawers and bend over.

What about two, three-year terms, max?

I'm not sure that in two years, I could learn where all the bathrooms were located.

Earlier, I read that the last two WWII vets had left congress. One guy, 88, had been there since '55; and Ralph Hall, 91, was turned out of office.

Better than what we have, however the system likes it the way it is.

One ultra idea is this, pubs vote Pelosi in as speaker of House.

Boner would be powerless and Pelosi could do nothing that pubs could not vote down. Such is being talked about as last resort to rid pubs of Boner.

Interesting and funny, but if they don't have the balls to vote him out, as you suggested, they should resign and go home.

Dear God, what pussies, they are.

Some hard shell conservatives are considering it.

A few have had enough of Boner bending over to Obongo.

Something has got to be done to throw out those denizens in the House that have been there for near a century.

Well, they shouldn't be considering it because the Speaker of the House is next in line for the Presidency after the Vice President.

Justin Amash of Michigan would be the best choice, imo, as the most consistently Constitutional Conservative. [Some recent 4um examples here, here, and here.]

Trey Gowdy of South Carolina could potentially be a good choice [Recent 4um example] but I didn't see him among the Colder War No votes. [4um example here.]

North Carolina's Walter Jones would be a top tier choice, too. [Recent 4um examples here and here -- possibly the 3 other Republicans, as well, who also voted No on the Colder War issue in addition to Amash and Jones: Thomas Massie-KY, John Duncan-TN and Dana Rohrbacher-CA.]

Interesting. Not sure it will happen, nor how it would work out, but interesting.

Last I heard, Gowdy did not want the job. Do not know of anyone else. Hell, if I got to pick, I have no idea who I would pick. Maybe someone who hated the Fed, the CFR, and Karl Rove!!

The only thing that surprises me is the openness in which Massie made his decision. These matters are usually handled in the cloak room and settled with a pocket full of cash. There must be more to this than meets the eye.

Interesting speech. Some of the subsequent videos are also good.

Michigan's Justin Amash is one of the few Republicans willing to stand strongly for the Constitution on Party-unpopular issues, such as 4th Amendment surveillance abuses, and also against reckless foreign policy but I thought these McClintock of California videos [in chronological order] were good, too + one of Georgia Republican Doug Collins:

Rep McClintock Calls For Americans To Rise Up Against Obama's Un-Constitutional Usurpations - 5 minutes

Putting Fish Before People - 5 minutes

The Constitutional Crisis - 5 minutes

The Constitutional Crisis: What to Do? - 5.25 minutes

Executive Amnesty Prevention Act - 2.25 minutes [See also GA Rep.: Collins speaks in favor of the Executive Amnesty Prevention Act - 2 minutes]
