Texas woman’s dog, missing since May, turns up in Indiana

KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) — Friday was the day a dog from Texas who ended up in Kokomo Indiana made his trip back home.

A retired sheriff’s deputy from Galveston made the drive to Kokomo starting on Wednesday to pick up the dog named Blue. He arrived at the Kokomo Humane Society on Friday to take Blue home.

Owner, JoAnn Navarro from Galveston said she was ecstatic to hear her dog was found alive and well some 1,100 miles away. Navarro said Blue vanished last May, along with her other pit bull. Navarro said she put them both in the backyard and the next day they were gone.

About two weeks ago, a Kokomo Humane Society staffer called with the news that a stranger had dropped off Blue, now 1-year-old, in Kokomo, which is about 40 miles north of Indianapolis.

Navarro, whose Galveston home is 1,100 miles from Kokomo, recently lost her job and couldn’t afford the trip to get Blue. Luckily a retired sheriff’s deputy from Galveston decided to make the 34-hour round-trip. (Provided Photo/Kokomo Humane Society) (Provided Photo/Kokomo Humane Society)

Anyone who would like to donate money to cover fuel and expenses for the group driving to Indiana can contact the Galveston Island Humane Society at 490-740-1919.

Bizarre enough - thanks for the good ending to this story.

“The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out... without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, intolerable.” ~ H. L. Mencken

Some stories end up happy. Not many, but this one was sweet.

I grew up in Kokomo, can't imagine how a dog from Galveston made it there but it sounds like someone was looking out for it.

For a moment, I was 'fraid that the dawg would have been shot on his way home by the guys in uniform wearing a badge that continuously save Amerika.

LOL, fortunately there is direct path from Kokomo to Texas without having to pass through NYC, Boston, DC, or California.

LOL, me too. I've found the Meskins much better neighbors than DWL's and native born welfare crackheads.

I can easily discern that you have little tolerance for government run crackhouses through 0bama re-distribution of wealth. I offer a question, however: shall we join them?
