We've made it -- a No. 1... top of the list... king of the hill! A new survey finds the United States is just about the healthiest nation on the planet by three key mainstream standards. We get more sleep and exercise and eat "healthier" than just about everyone else, according to the global survey by GfK. So what's our prize? How about this: a T-shirt that says, "My country has some of the healthiest habits on the planet, and all I got was this lousy diabetes!" Because despite the fact that we're so darned "healthy," we're practically leading the world in being fat and sick. We have a higher obesity rate than Mexico, and shorter average life expectancy than Slovenia. (Slovenia!) Meanwhile, the same survey of "healthy" habits finds the Japanese FAIL by every measure. They get less sleep, do almost no exercise and eat worse foods! It's not just sushi over there. One of the most popular dishes in the nation is a deep-fried pork chop smothered in eggs, yolk and all. The Japanese guzzle coffee and tea all day, down beer and sake by night and smoke like chimneys. Yet they have one of the longest life spans and lowest obesity rates on the planet! If that doesn't tell you we're doing something wrong by doing everything "right," I don't know what will. But this is par for the course. The "healthier" we get by mainstream standards, the more we suffer from disease and early death. Back in 2012, I told you about a survey that found America had reached its decades-long quest to bring the average cholesterol level down below 200, to supposedly textbook levels by mainstream standards. Well, it's time to use that textbook to start a bonfire -- because despite reaching those picture-perfect levels, we haven't put a dent in heart disease rates. Heck, heart disease is practically our national pastime these days! Friend, it's time to start doing things WRONG if you want to save your life -- it's time to trade all your so-called "good" habits for so-called "bad" ones. And if you want some advice on where to start, forget the "experts" and go with your gut instead -- go with common sense. Eliminate all processed foods, especially sugar and most of the carbs, and replace them fresh, natural animal fats and proteins. In fact, just last year, two separate studies proved that high-fat diets like Atkins and paleo can reduce inflammation and help ward off everything from heart disease to diabetes. In one head-to-head study, my high-protein diet left low-fat diets in the dust when it came to improving health for diabetics. If you want to be YOUR best, go with the "worst." With nothing but the best for you, William Campbell Douglass II, MD P.S. Meat will clog your arteries. The sun will give you cancer. Salt will send your blood pressure skyrocketing. Those are just a few of the tired old myths that Big Medicine's talking heads trot out time and time again. I swear they won't be satisfied until you give up every darn thing that makes life worth living! But you DON'T have to give in to their JUNK MEDICNE. There's a better way. Click here to learn more.
