Research included more than a half-million vaccine doses in 1- or 2-year-olds

WEDNESDAY, Jan. 7, 2015 (HealthDay News) -- Two measles-containing vaccines are safe, according to a new 12-year study.

The research included children between the ages of 12 to 23 months. Some youngsters received the combination measles-mumps-rubella-varicella (MMRV) vaccine. Others were given separately administered measles-mumps-rubella and varicella (MMR + V) vaccines, but they received both vaccines on the same day.

In total, the researchers at the Kaiser Permanente Vaccine Study Center in California looked at almost 125,000 MMRV doses and nearly 600,000 MMR + V doses.

"Our findings offer reassurance that adverse outcomes of measles-containing vaccines are extremely rare and unlikely, and that parents of 1-year-old children can choose MMR + V instead of MMRV vaccines to reduce the low risk of fever and febrile seizures," study lead author Dr. Nicola Klein, co-director of the vaccine study center, said in a Kaiser Permanente news release.

The vaccines didn't increase children's risk of seven types of neurological, blood or immune system disorders. No other safety concerns were identified with either vaccine, according to the researchers.

The study, published online Jan. 5 in Pediatrics, also confirmed previous findings that the two vaccines are associated with fever and fever-related (febrile) seizures in 1-year-old children. These types of seizures usually happen seven to 10 days after vaccination. The study also found that the MMRV is more likely to cause febrile seizures than MMR + V.

The researchers emphasized that the risk of febrile seizures is small. They occur in less than one of every 1,000 vaccine injections, the study authors said.

"This level of safety monitoring for vaccines can give the public confidence that vaccine surveillance is ongoing and that if a safety problem existed, it would be detected," Klein said in the news release. Oh, OK.

Rewind to 30 years ago and let's see what else was declared safe and healthy, even by the FDA, and how many of those positions have been reversed.

So is getting measles, under any circumstances, even more unlikely.

In total, the researchers at the Kaiser Permanente Vaccine Study Center in California looked at almost 125,000 MMRV doses and nearly 600,000 MMR + V doses.

And who, exactly, funded that study? Let me guess, it wasn't some alternative natural medicine association.

he study also confirmed the findings from previous studies that MMRV and MMR + V are associated with fever and febrile seizure seven to 10 days after vaccination among 1-year-old children, and that MMRV versus MMR + V is associated with an increased risk of seizures during that interval. While febrile seizures are the most common neurologic adverse events following immunization with measles-containing vaccines, the risk is small — less than one febrile seizure per 1,000 injections.

OK, so we have what today, approximately 100 measles outbreaks this year, with some even questioning whether or not it's actually measles, but we'll let that lie for now.

And these outbreaks of measles can be counted on the order of magnitude on one hand annually. So, let's bump that up and say 100 annually, which is far more than the average measles outbreaks annually, let's round down to a US population of 300M people, that's less than a 1-in-3 million chance, or 1/3,000th of 1% of getting measles. These are in the ballpark of the odds of winning a major lottery.

Yet, the chances of getting a febrile seizure are 1/10th of 1% chance?

... or put in terms of the 300M population figure, 3,000 in 300M.

So it would seem that the odds of having one of those seizures is hundreds of times greater than they are of even contracting measles, much less dying from it.

Approximately a thousand people a year, innocent, die in the US due to an overzealous LE in the US fueled by low-IQ'd LEOs and psychopaths.

Yet, we focus on something that's a hundred times less likely.

Yeah, typical US media!

In the meantime, I guess we're to assume that these seizures happen because the human body recognizes how marvelous the vaccine is for it.

Point was made on C2C show last night that vaccine doesn't work in two percent of those vaccinated so if your unvaccinated child gets measles he might infect them.

That's not a good value. What percent of unvaccinated got measles? (or flu or whatever)

Even if all 100 or so cases of measles, few if any having resulted in death, were all unvaccinated, the odds of an unvaccinated person contracting measles is a fraction of a percent.

Note how the stat that you got says "doesn't work."

I'd love to get into the metrics of this and the games that they play with words. If anyone's interested, let me know.
